“Hotel PORTO MAGNO”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

Overall rating of the hotel is good as a 3-on, it's an older 4-star hotel, we would give him only 3, there is some restoration of the hotel, watch the rooms, there are two categories of rooms, one is exactly like the catalog and the other old, rusted batteries and everything min.20 years old, we lasted one night, next day we just swapped it.

“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

We liked the situation of this resort it was opposite the beach and walkable distance to the harbour which had bars and restuarants all around it. The hotel was big and Spanish so all the entertainment was in Spanish. The food was good and the swimming pools are massive but closed in April. The gym is closed early on a Saturday and closed on a Sunday and there is a cost for the sauna and jucuzzi.
Nice hotel and nicely situated maybe better later in the year.

“Very good hotel”

My wife and I arrived here on 14 July, 2011 and it was a very nice hotel. All the staff is very helpfull and the food is excellent, but before you come, make sure that you have all inclusive holiday, because otherwise your holiday would become pretty expensive. There is a free wifi internet but there are not many power sockets in the rooms. For sportsmen there is also a perfectly equipped gym. Almost nobody speaks English here except of few basic words. Anyway, we liked it there very much.

“Lovely Clean Hotel, Helpful Staff, Very Spanish 10/10”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

We arrived on 19th May. The receptionist was very helpful. The rooms are good sized for two. Nice bathroom too. Rooms cleaned each day and towels changed everyday if needed. Lovely Terrace to sit and enjoy the sun. The Restaurant was very clean and the food was plentiful and there was lot's to choose from. There was absolutely nothing out of place and not a thing to complain about. I recommend this Hotel 10//10.
The surrounding Gardens are lovely and well kept. There are 3 or 4 Swimming Pools and one indoor. I can't comment on them as we did not use them. There are also garaging facilities with a charge. You can park around the roads of the Hotel, but you have to search for a place. The area around the Hotel is a mix of Restaurants/Bars/Shops/Hotels and residential. The beach is literally a few metre's from the front of the Hotel. There is not much to do around, so you do need to have the use of some form of transport. We had a hire Car. You can spend days out at Mini Hollywood at Tabernas. Or treat yourself to a day at the Alhambra Palace - although that is quite a jaunt, about a 200 mile round trip, but well worth it. The mountains are wonderful to explore and also the Desert area which was used to film countless famous films over the years.
The Downside - the area is not named Costa Del Plastico for a joke. It is serious - the plastic sheeting covered greenhouse stretch for acres and acres. You come across them all over the district of Almeria. Gratefully they are not high up in the mountains !!
We had a wonderful week exploring the place. You will too.
Please beware that the bins are emptied around midnight each night, so if you are asleep you will be woken up, as they are loud. This is done everyday so they don't have vermin problem, so we didn't mind too much.

“Excellent portomagno”

My husband and myself had a five day break to porto magno hotel in May 2006. Excellent four star spacious hotel on sea front near to bars restarants bank etc. Large clean rooms all with sea view i think. Fantastic food buffet. Very spanish hotel and resort but we keep ourselves to ourselves on holiday so didn't bother us not being full of english. 30 minutes to airpot which we liked, local taxi and pre-booked easyjet taxi a lot cheaper than airport taxi. Resort very quiet until June but quite hot weather at least 25C. Take phrase book if eating out in spanish bars or cafes as menus in spanish and not a lot of staff speak english.( eg wine is vino) New english bar in commercial centre just up the road for english breakfast or things with chips and big screen football. Relaxing low key holiday resort as is most of almeria and a chance to try your spanish. Would definately return to aguadulce and portomagno.
