The place is heavenly, I would say even magical, if you don't mind staying awake all night. The problem was that the room I was given was over the bar/employee-service entrance, and it didn't quiet down until midnight, and then started up by 6am. There was a lot of "clean-up" noise. Yes, the place is very clean. In addition, the town bell tower, right next door to the Hotel, rang before 7am, many times an hour.
The first night I thought a next door neighbor was making the racket. The second night I went searching out the commotion. At about 11pm I discussed my options with the front desk. I decided to stay put for the night.
By the next morning, after another sleepless night (did I mention I am totally deaf in one ear, so with my ear to the pillow, I generally hear nothing) I discussed with the front desk moving to another room. I was told there was no other room. I told the front desk that if I couldn't have another room, I would need to leave. I needed sleep. I was told there would be a penalty for leaving early.
The Hotel did not charge me for leaving early, instead they charged charged me for two spa treatments I was suppose to have two days later, that I would obviuosly not be there for. I tried to explain the obsurdity of charging me for services I was unable to use, since I did not know where I would be even that night.
Due to the langauge barrier ( I do not speak German or Italian), I decided not to argue about the spa charges, planning to write the Hotel upon my return. I did write, but the Hotel never responded and challenged my challenge to the credit card charge, so I ended up paying for services I never received.
Overall, I felt like a tourist being taken advantage of , being given a less preferable room, in a nice resort. Obviously this did not leave a good taste in my mouth, and I decided to drive over to Cortina and take a room for the night.
