From a service point of view, this resort is unquestionably 5 out of 5! The staff are extremely friendly and diligent and are a credit to the management of the hotel. Nothing is too much trouble and you only have to look up and your waiter or the bar staff are ready to help you. Our waiter for the fortnight, Moosa, was very quick with serving drinks.
The rooms are incredibly large and kept spotlessly clean. However, the bathrooms are in need of renovation, which we understand is happening in May 2010. Nevertheless, you do not spend a great deal of time in the bathroom while on holiday, so the room and private balcony, overlooking the lagoon more than make up for this. There is a glass panel in the floor in the middle of the room where you can look down into the sea and watch the array of sea-life swimming by. We were lucky enough to see a turtle swimming ten metres away from our bungalow, which was an amazing experience, although he soon disappeared when another guest got into the water and tried to follow him!! The best tip to see the turtle is to watch from your balcony!
The food was good, but in our opinion, the quality of the meat and fish could have been better considering the price people had paid. However, there was a very large choice of dishes every day and something for everybody. If you like wine and cheese, it is heaven!
The main bar we found noisy due to the loud music, which in our opinion, did not fit in with the ambience of the island. Simply reducing the volume would solve the problem, as the female singer has an excellent voice. The bar staff are again very friendly and helpful, notably Lalith, Nasser and Osi, who could not do enough for you.
As for the Island itself, the beach was absolutely beautiful and we preferred to spend time there, than on our bungalows. The sea is warm and clear and any debris that is brought in on the tide was cleared up immediately. You can walk out for over 200 meters until you reach the deeper water, where you can snorkel and see more fish. At high tide, do be careful of the current around the back of the bungalows, as it is unbelievably strong.
The only negative thing we could say about the island was the hostility of the Italian guests, who were rude and aggressive to every other nationality and members of staff. We have been to other resorts where other nations have been unfriendly, however this was open hostility that was completely unneccesary and difficult to ignore.
Overall, we had a fanstatic holiday and would have no hesitation in recommending this resort. It is a wonderful place to relax and unwind in paradise.
