My partner Kathie chose this hotel for our stop in Astorga, during our journey along the Camino de Santiago. I was so pleased she did, because the hotel is a solid establishment in an ideal location. It is situated in a quiet plaza next to the cathedral and opposite Gaudi's wonderful Episcopal Palace (now a museum and art gallery). It is within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants in Astorga, and the town's Plaza Major (town square) with nearby archaeological museum. You'll love the location of this hotel, for a start ... especially if you've just been walking your legs off doing the Camino de Santaigo!
As far as facilities go, the hotel itself is large and solid-looking, but quiet and efficient. It has a lift, and strong doors on each room to keep out noise. There are two decent restaurants and a bar in the hotel itself, and there are several others alongside. The town's tourist office is also two doors away.
The rooms were clean and of a good size, with big cupboards and good bathrooms, most with bathtubs. They provide nice toiletries, and have good towels, with TV and wifi in the rooms. The beds are very comfortable. Hotel staff were always very helpful, providing maps of Astorga and other advice when needed. In general, we had a good time in Astorga (see my review of the town itself) and a comfortable time in the Hotel Gaudi. I have absolutely no complaints and I'd recommend it to you if you visit this excellent little town.
