“Lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I greatly enjoyed my stay in the Astur Plaza - though because it was market day when we arrived we walked around for a while before discovering that the hotel was totally obscured a big covered market which took a while to take down. Once uncovered the square was lovely with lots of opportunities for having a nice drink while watching the world go by. We visited the adjoining restaurant for lunch and there was a good selection of food and drinks. The hotel was conveniently located for visiting the Cathedral and Gaudi's Bishop's Palace. The only down side was the chiming Town Hall clock which was only a few yards away from our window.

“Great Service, wonderful location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We had a wonderful night's stay along the Camino De Santiago. A nice break from the Albergues. The staff was wonderful, the rooms nice and clean and a welcome break. Breakfast was delicious and the view out our window couldn't of been more charming. Although be forewarned if you your room does face the plaza, then you will hear the bell chimes.

“Loved This City and the Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

The service here was excellent; I'm basically an English-only-speaker and the people at the desk were gracious, knowledgeable, and helpful. Unlike another reviewer, I especially enjoyed the plaza outside the hotel. I sat there and sketched, watched the normal hubbub of resident life, and was well-situated to spy and have drinks with Camino pilgrims I knew as they entered or explored the city.
Dinner at the hotel was a special event for the group I was with, and the breakfast buffet most satisfying.

“Lovely hotel, but avoid the plaza.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

Very nice hotel, friendly staff & very good food, tapas & bistro style meals.
Faces the square which also has the nearby town hall & its very noisy clock chimes.
Close to shops & restaurants, 10 minute walk to the cathedral.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the plaza unless you have good earplugs.

“Best stop on this stretch of Camino”

Modernized and very comfortable hotel in this charming small city. Astorga punches above its weight economically and this hotel fits comfortably into the upper middle-market tourism offered. The Taverna in the hotel is fine for good quality informal meals with plenty of local colour. The Crystal breakfast room is a refereshing start to the day. The Cafe Pasajo across the square buzzes at teatime. The bells on the adjacent town clock during the night are a reassuring confirmation that you are still alive! Book with confidence.
