Modernized and very comfortable hotel in this charming small city. Astorga punches above its weight economically and this hotel fits comfortably into the upper middle-market tourism offered. The Taverna in the hotel is fine for good quality informal meals with plenty of local colour. The Crystal breakfast room is a refereshing start to the day. The Cafe Pasajo across the square buzzes at teatime. The bells on the adjacent town clock during the night are a reassuring confirmation that you are still alive! Book with confidence.
This hotel is on one of the main squares in Astorga which is a delightful town with a beautiful cathedral and a Gaudi palace. I was lucky to have a room at the back of the hotel. Many rooms overlook the square which is very busy with restaurants and bars. My room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was adequate but not as extensive as elsewhere. There is free internet access (although I had to throw the resident children off the pc desk first!) and the hotel has a bar in which you can eat. It was very busy with locals when we were there and so the service was slow but the food was fine. I would stay here again but only if they could give me a quiet room.
Astorga is a small city west of Leon. And this small hotel is right on the main square. From our small balcony we could see all the goings-on in the town -- particularly the hikers, cyclists, etc., passing through on the Camino de Santiago. The room was large enough, and breakfast was fine -- even if a little humble. The central square is noisy -- but the balcony doors shut that all out -- even the town hall with its imposing (and loud!) clock -- and an "accompanying" church bell.
This is not in León but in the town of Astorga, 45 kms west, but a lovely place for a stopover. Newly rebuilt, spotlessly clean and centrally located, the Astur Plaza gave us a large "Junior Suite" with a double room and another room with a sofa bed where our two teenagers slept. They loved the hydromassage bath.
Staff were very friendly. Convenient for all the spots in Astorga.
The bar downstairs gave us regional cuisine at very reasonable prices. It was also full of locals as was the bustling square outside.
Get there early if you want a spot in the car park (paying extra) at busy times.
