“A little gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Spent two nights in December whilst visiting family "oop North" Chose for location and good reviews. We were not disappointed. The room was quirkily-shaped, being in the turret, very well furnished with good quality fabrics and comfy bed. Despite two very cold nights, it was nicely warm & cosy. Lashings of hot water and thick, fluffy towels, warm off the heated rail.
The restaurant food & service was excellent and well-presented at a reasonable price.
We would definitely go back, but would request an upstairs room, simply because sleeping downstairs feels odd.
The only criticism was the bathroom floor, which was cold quarry tiles, completely at odds with the luxury feel of the room.

Room Tip: Room 8 has the cold bathroom floor

“A great small hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We recently stayed for the second time at the Five Rise Locks Hotel, and the visit confirmed our view that this is a great base for our occasional visits to West Yorkshire. If impersonal and soulless chain hotels are your idea of hotel heaven, this probably isn't the place for you, but we felt at home the moment we stepped inside. Our room was comfortable, well-equipped and spotlessly clean, the food good, and the service friendly and efficient. As a bonus, our stay coincided with one of the regular wine evenings, which was really good fun and excellent value.

Overall, nothing to find fault with whatsoever.

“Met expectations, clean, comfortable room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

Overall good experience. The hotel feels and looks more like large B & B. Clean room, good size for an old building like this. Free wi-fi in room was a big plus. Breakfast was traditional English, good quality, local and fresh items.

This is really located in a low density suburban, rather than rural setting. There is a lot of walking trails near the hotel, and Bradford and the Yorkshire Dales are relatively short drives. There aren't a lot of lodging options around, though, and this definitely worked for us.

The only con is one that goes with the territory, could hear other guests coming and going in the morning, doors slamming closed, etc.
