Not bad, only 2 big problem: near airport - noisy, bad poor beach- only 2-3 m of stone beach line.
Booked this as a 5-star All Inclusive holiday, expecting something a little bit special and had anticipated lazing by the pool with cold beers and light snacks during the day and a good selection of tasty, fresh food of an evening. A complete disappointment on all fronts. Had we booked 2 or 3-star, we would have had no complaint but it is not unreasonable to expect "that little extra" from a supposed 5-star hotel.
No "Welcome" pack; nothing in our room to detail hotel facilities.
Suspect that when first built and opened it was 5-star, but those standards have certainly not been maintained and the general appearance is of a tired, uninspired and uninspiring hotel. Majority of staff/personnel were not Greek, and it was difficult to discover any genuine Greek style/charm at the hotel
Very light, bright and airy reception with a "pool area"------never used and seems only for display purposes.....Why ???
Two large fish/water tanks in reception have neither fish, lights and/or any useful decorative purpose.
Otherwise, communal areas ( pool, bars, restaurant, gardens ) have a very tired look and are in need of some tender loving care to restore some character and warmth. A separate restaurant ( by the pool ) was not open for our entire stay. All meals were served in the main bar/restaurant area. Food was repetitive and not particularly good, salad bowls were re-cycled from lunch to dinner so if we wanted to take a chance, we had to play "hunt the fresh tomato chunk/cucumber slice/onion slice"......think works canteen standard, and you won't be disappointed.
Poolside snacks...........non existent. Poolside drinks.......beer served in very small, plastic "glasses." Am unable to comment on other drink choices......but from the bottles on display the "locally produced" choice seemed very limited. From speaking to the bar-staff, the hotel has had a very busy summer and would be closing soon at the end of the season. That feeling of impeding doom, sorry closure, was evident..... and made the whole holiday experience sadly disappointing. Still, it gave us the opportunity to discover Ialysos and Rhodes town, where we managed to find plenty of genuine Greek charm, good food and drink::::::::::but sadly not included in our "all-inclusive" package, which meant we ended up paying much more for our holiday than we had really expected
Rooms were adequate, but tired. Bedding was serviceable.....bed-throws had certainly seen better days and while we hope they were clean and freshly laundered, they had many marks and "washed-in" stains of perhaps dubious origin! Daily room service, towels changed daily, sheets every 2/3 days, beds made. Very thin walls and doors, all noises and conversations in the corridor and adjoining rooms could be heard. Not so much 5-star as student dormitory.
Entertainment............non-existent.
Gym, sauna, hamam, massage and spa facilities .......non-existent, or not available during our stay.
2 "shops" within hotel complex............never opened.
I doubt if there were more than 100 guests staying at the hotel during our stay, and it was obvious that many of them were less than satisfied. It was not unusual to see them arrive, sample the "delights" and then equally quickly "check-out."
A 5-star disappointment!
Hotel food was poorly recycled. Breakfast is poor.
The hotel room was worse wet floor bathroom water runs down all the time.
After Early Afternoon receptionist behaved rudely. We paid for a five-star hotel and we got a 3 star hotel.
My friend and I arrived for 1 weeks stay on the 22nd September, 2011. After a delayed flight from Stansted. There was only one person checking in about 10 or more people, so took a long time. We were surprised to find our room had bunk beds in it as well as twin beds, when we had booked a room for 2 adults. The furniture in the room was sub standard, scratched and lacking drawer space. The CD player broken, and we were told to put something heavy on the lid and it would work! We complained to reception and they offered us an alternative room which overlooked a tip!.Broken sunbeds everywhere, and a mattress discarded on the path. We then decided to stick with the original room as we were tired and extremely upset with everything. We had a second rate meal that evening which was like slops!! The pool area was barely lit and in a shabby condition all around. The choice of drinks was limited also. After a restless night being disturbed by people in the corridor, we wanted to shower, but there was no hot water in the jacuzzi bath, that incidently smelt of stagnant water and had a hand shower only attached to the bath, didnt bother. We arranged to see The Manager of the Hotel at 10.30am and complained bitterly to him, I must say he did go out of his way to help us, by way of suggesting their sister Hotel The Nautica, which was some 30 mins away. We wanted to check this Hotel our first before we committed to anything, as you can never trust a website's pictures! Basically we jumped in a cab and decided that The Nautica was much better, and although it was classed as a 5*, dont think it was, probably a 4*, but nevertheless, much improved. We enjoyed the rest of our holiday, but feel the standards must change in Greece. They are in trouble out there and should think more towards their tourism and clientele, which put money back into the country.
I would never every visit the Ocean Blue again, please be warned!!!!
Just returned home from ocean blue, and glad to be home. We arrived at 2 in the afternoon, a quick change and down to the bar, only to be told they had no beer, not a great start, 2 hours later we finally got our beers. Also not much to choose from if you like your shorts, also ran out of them to. The room was basic not at all like shown in hotel pictures, no bath, only show er. Broken cd player. Now the food, Well if you like salads your gonna love it, because thats about all thats edible here, oh and stews of sorts, chicken stew, pork stew, beef stew, lamb stew, really im not joking we had this served everyday for 7 days and to top it this was served as your snack that same afternoon, if your looking for chips, burgers, pizzas, and quick snack food you wont find it here. The pool, never once went in the pool the whole 7 days we were there, it was a cloudy green colour with a film of god knows on the top, so we went down to the pebble beach everday which was nice, Oh and if you did venture to pool area you would be hard pushed to get a sun lounger cause there only about 30 in the whole place. Entertainment was ok i guess if you like bingo every night, although the team were very nice peole. They do cater more for russian, polish, french, we only found two other english speaking couples there which is the norm for this hotel. I wouldnt go back to this hotel if got it for free, dont go also if your an animal lover either, the place is full of cats who have just be left for strays, they are also always loitering for food, which is so sad, we also had a little pup come onto complex on our second day there, which all the english people took turns to care for, we were trying to rehome her as we had to leave, so hoping she got somewhere safe and someone to take good care of her, Come on you grecians look after your animals its not hard to do, and you will be rewarded with lots of love and affection. Anyway i only wish i had took the reviews on board, cause i would never return here again.
