“just what you pay for!”

we turned up in the night and got given our room, our a/c didn't work so we had to get someone in to fix this, this was annoying as the kids were tired and it was baking hot!
the room itself was an average type room but we did find a big hole through my sons sheet.
the pool is very clean and great for the kids and has lots of room for sunbathing!
the food at the pool bar is gorgeous and the two lady's that work in there are British and lovely to talk to!
the location is great and and there is a shop just around the corner selling just about everything! this was continent as my daughter lost her towel so we got her a new one right away without having to travel any further!
the most annoying thing was the planes flying overhead especially at night as my youngest daughter would never sleep and stayed up crying!
they are a real pain but we got used to it after a while!
it's a great hotel and a real little cheap gem but i'm not sure we will be booking again!

“not as bad as they say”

so i have tried to write a review as honest as i possibly could so as to be helpful..if you want 4 or 5 star ...dont bother...but if you do... and book here...please dont expect 4 or 5 star...you get what you pay for..visited margaret studios in the first week of septmber...weather stunning!!!!
Arrived at airport and hadnt booked transfer but taxis were everywhere, unfortunatly the lady taxi driver had NO idea where our hotel was and told us to get out in a little back street saying it was down there !!!! pitch black....about 9pm, after a bit of a search we knocked on a local family who told us where we were...
Our room...if a little grubby...was huge!!! the bed was clean and its just a place to sleep after all...and in fairness...this is really all that lets the place down..because the pool is awesome... joanna ..the girl who runs the pool bar is lovely...nothing is a bother...and a clever little crafter :) makes hand made knitted goods!
The planes are soooo low flying but very funny....i never did get used to it so get your camera ready!!! they really are more entertaining than a problem but do have 1 or 2 at night so take some ear plugs like i did and they wernt a bother!!
Kremasti is a total sweetheart of a place.. great for a week... nice place to eat is zorbas..and the place in the main square where everyone sits outside... nightlife in limited but lovely...stay away from kahulas ....overpriced if u want just want a beer but if you want a cocktail....thats 7 euros than youl love it,...sweet and very friendly bar is thomas and michaels where its mainly the locals and the owner is a sweetheart. ..all in all kremasti is stunning...great base.... for a must see rhodes old town!!!!! and it REALLY isnt as bad as some of the reviews....

“Excellent base for exploring Rhodes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

I've just come back from the Margaret Studios and have to admit my stay there was wonderful!

As the apartments are only 3km from the airport the short transfer time means you can either start your holiday immediately or get to bed sooner! I must mention however that aircraft do fly low overhead but don't let this put you off, it's more spectacular than annoying!

While the rooms are basic they are very comfy and come with a fridge and a cooker plus all the utensils you require. The showers are lovely by the way. All you are going to need is the bed, the fridge and the shower, it was so hot!

Joanne who runs the hotel during the day is incredibly helpful with 16 years knowledge of Rhodes. Any questions I had were answered quickly and she also arranged my transfer back to the airport. She rustles up lovely food from a poolside bar and makes wonderful home made gifts!

While some people have mentioned that Kremasti has little to offer a visitor it does have a beautiful pebble beach with spectacular views of kite surfers and the Turkish coastline, two wonderful bars ('Kahlua' and 'Tommies') and the bus to Rhodes Town! The journey takes about half an hour and only costs 2.20 Euros.

I'd defiantly return to this hotel based on the staff, location and cost.

“Basic, clean & friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

My friend & I wanted a week away at the last minuet, somewhere hot, not to lively! I found a place in Rhodes looked ok read all the reviews perfect, asked my friend to book it as I was busy at work, simple.....well you would have thought so....... she booked Rhodes, but not the location or hotel I had chosen, & it was more money....so it didnt start well. I read the reviews they were not good, rural location, low flying planes, bed linen not changed, watch out for the snakes on the way to the beach!!!! there were some good ones but not enought to make me choose this holiday.

When we arrived in Rhodes at midnight after sitting on the tarmac at Gatwick for an hour & 15mins we were delayed due to a 'Greek air traffic control strike' we found our shuttle bus (which we were advised not to book as it was more expensive than a taxi, however lucky we did as there was a taxi strike) and off we went, 1st people got dropped off nice hotel good location, I knew we were close to the airport so we were next, as the driver went off the beaten track into the what appeared to be the back of beyond the driver suddenly stopped shouted Margaret Studios & got off to get our luggage, I was almost embarrassed to get up and go in, the place was in total darkness standing alone in the wilderness. I asked the driver how we get in (as the door looked like it was locked) he replied 'Im only the driver' got back in the shuttle and drove off. OMG we tried the door & it opened, and we walked into what appeared to be 'Bates Motel' I was not impressed by my surroundings to say the least. We eventually found the owner and were taken to our room, it was basic, clean, over looking the pool, bed sheets were clean, shower was powerfull, air con worked (this was an extra cost, no big deal 5 euros a day, but essential) door locked, so we unpacked and went to bed, hoping it would all look better in the cold light of day.

Yes it was better in the daylight, not so rural after all, the food in the village was excellent, we ate Greek all the time (we asked Joanne on the snack bar for recommendations and she didnt disapoint) no dodgy tummies, good service and not expensive,
Places to eat: Basillis Vasillis (up the side road by the big pharmacy on the main road) we had slouvacki chicken..sat with all the locals in the middle of the road, it was great.
Yannis grill house, sat in the square again with all the locals, Zorbas on the main road (had their Stifaedo), Sky bar for cocktails, Tommies bar for a late one. We also went on a day trip to Symi Island....wow it was beautiful, we chose a resturant on the waters edge and ate the most amazing seafood, our most expensive meal but worth every penny, people were jumping into the water then coming back to their table to finish their meal...a must have experience

Anyway....down to 'should you book these apartments', the reception area was very dated, rooms were clean, 5 mins to beach one way (no snakes) beach not the best as it was advertised as pebbles....more like stones, (I would advise you wear shoes in the water because the stones hurt your feet) 5 mins to town the other way, food at snack bar was good and not expensive Joanne who works there was very helpfull, pool looked clean (we went to the beach every day) ample sunbeds, yes the planes were very low flying however they mainly flew during the day so it was not a problem, if you want basic in a lovely village with lovely locals (we were told that Kremasti is the safest village on the lsland) excellent food, close to the beach a bus ride away from Rhodes Town then the Margaret Studios are the place to book

“Nice hotel, but know why you want to stay in Kresmati”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

Very nice studio apartment with a great pool. Not far from main road and a bus ride from the airport. We paid less than £18 a night as our first choice hotel was overbooked so we thought this was great value. We enjoyed our stay. Half the guests were deaf and mute. Their impediments only advantage is that they couldn’t hear the noise of the planes overhead. Although you get used to them, you sometimes woke up thinking you are in the middle of a war film. Kresmati has expensive supermarkets when compared to the ones we used in our 10 days in Crete, nearly 20% more in most and the market next to the hotel, 40%. I would question the use of self-catering here as it’s cheaper to go to a restaurant. The hotel advertises many theme nights but none happened. Not a lot happens in Kresmati, though Michals had good food though poor quality draught beer. Too much chat here from Greek locals about putting up prices because they have to pay so much tax. If they paid tax like the rest of Europe in the first place they wouldn’t be in such a mess. Tommies, though not our cup of tea tried hard to entertain the tourists at a reasonable price. Well done for their efforts. The hotel had lots of locals playing gambling games near the bar which is why I believe few tourists frequented the bar area. Reducing their prices to compete with the mentioned bars might also have helped. Too many kids not staying at the hotel used the pool too often without any knowledge of pool etiquette and without parents. Overall though a good stay and we missed the riots at home.
