We went on this David Urquhart Weekend Trip and to be honest was excellent value for money, the only downside was that if the weather is bad there is not much to do in Braemar, most of the tourists on coach were pensioners, therefore, entertainment (which I may add was good) finished at 10.30pm when everyone then went to bed.

Good for a quiet relaxing weekend if thats what you are looking for.

The title says it all, breakfast was decent but nothing special. The rooms were small but clean. However it was very noisy (you are attached to a pub).

As far as Dufftown goes it isn't bad, close to some good hikes but don't expect stellar accommodations in this tiny town.

We stayed @ the Fife Arms as part of a 5 day 4 night coach package. with David Urquhart Travel. The whole deal was very good value for the money we paid.
On first look, the overall apperance was a bit worrying, it looked as if it had a hard life. Inside it was welcoming with a well worn look. The decor is on the drab side and lighting does not help making it look dreary. But ,having said that, the place is very clean and the staff very helpful.
The bedrooms are on 3 floors. At one end of a long corridor (in which there is a wheel chair ramp) there is a small, (3 person) lift to all floors, There are also 2 staircases, one located centrally near the reception and one near the lift.
Our bedroom was at the front of the hotel on the second floor over looking Braemar main street. The usual tea/coffee making facilities and a TV are provided, but no phone. The room was large but the ensuite room was small but adequate. The beds where comfortable and the bedding fresh and clean. Room and ensuite was cleaned every day. The room was in need of redecorating.
All meals are served in a large resturant on the ground floor. The dinner menu is good, with at least 3 main meals to choose from. The food is well prepared with reasonable portions. Breakfast is very good.
There is a large public bar, used by the locals, and there is also a smaller cocktail bar. There is also a large room that serves
as a lounge/concert room and coffee bar

Would we stay there again? Yes we would.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The room was clean and tidy with a nice bathroom and reasonably large shower. The room(which was more like a chalet) was at back of hotel and fairly quite. The actual chalet block reminded me of holiday camp chalets of old.
Breakfast was served in the lounge as there was no seperate dining room. The bar at the side ot the hotel was very basic and uninviting so we only drank in there once. The hotel was very quite while we were there(although all the rooms were occupied) and we struggled to fill our evenings. Not a town to plan to stay for long.
