“This hotel ticks all the boxes!”

We spent a week at the Alpenrose in August, and for the first time on holiday with our darling children we had a relaxing break. The hotel is clean, our room was perfect with lego provided for the children and a supersize beach bag provided for the pool, the facilities are endless, the kids club seems to be open all the time, the swimming pools are warm, the food is superb, the staff are friendly and professional and the spa treatments 2nd to none. We never usually return to the same holiday destination but will definitely be visiting the Alpenrose again.

“Great holiday. Excellent food and great holiday for family with kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

It was our second time in a kinderhotel and they are excellent to go on a holiday with kids. Our daugther loved going horse riding, taking part in the show and all other activities. Food is excellent and this time we were very lucky with the weather as it was brilliant. Only thing that I can comment negatively about is that it would be a help if the helpers in the mini club speak more in English as sometimes kids who do not speak German are a bit lost.

“Go and see it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

Now we really understand the meaning of child friendly hotel! Mine sun of 5 years old told me: Mama, it's my best hotel in mine life. The concept of Alpenrose is good and the stuff makes it work. The people work here hard, quick and with passion. It was a very nice week for us!

“Our third visit - It get's even better...So good we invited guests!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

This visit was our third trip to Alpenrose over three consecutive summer trips. Our visits have become so enjoyable that only do we build our travel itinerary around the Lermoos stay, we actually had another family from the USA join us this summer for the same dates. We would normally worry about overselling a place we enjoy for fear that it might not live up to others' expectations, but Alpenrose set the bar even higher this year! I'll offer the many reasons why it was even better than our earlier (great) visits, and also take a chance to offer comments on how some of the suggestions that other reviewers have made have actually been implemented by the hotel.

Like last year, we discovered even more amenities this year that we hadn't really taken advantage of in the prior visit(s). Most specifically, we enjoyed a new suite type this year along with gourmet meals and service beyond the earlier high standards, and we used the on-site spa and off-site activities far more during this visit. Because our visit included another family from Chicago, our daughter was even more comfortable doing more activities on her own and with her friends, so all the parents had even more time to indulge. Everyone loved the different personal and couple spa options, and the dads got to enjoy the golf course just down the hill. As an American I have to confess to having some inflated expectations of what an ideal golf course should look like, even though I'm just a novice. For the past 2 years I didn't seriously think about trying the golf course nearby because it doesn't look at wooded as we are used to in the Midwest USA. Boy, was I wrong for that, and it was just plain foolish to miss playing during the prior visits. Having a playing partner encouraged me to try it this time, and I absolutely loved it, playing every other day of our visit. Though the course isn't lush with trees, it was breathtaking and relaxing to be able to play right in the valley of many beautiful alpine peaks. Incredible views in all directions and the course was fun to play with a variety of holes to challenge you. Don't be a snob, get out and play! It was also inexpensive even before applying the discount provided to us as Alpenrose guests.

This year we booked a wellness suite, which has accommodations with more modern spa/lodge feel than the more traditional suites. We enjoyed the spacious, clean and comfortable Aqua Suite. But I can say that any type (wellness or traditional) would suit most families well, and we would consider the large apartment for our next visit (2 connected suites for large groups). Having guests from home helped us appreciate the quality and value of Alpenrose even more.

Last year we "discovered" the gourment offerings for dinner, wine and other fare (even though they were available and offered before). However, this year we truly indulged in it and appreciated it. Our guests ordered room service, as well as requesting some completely original requests "off the menu" that our servers and the chef accommodated in good style and order. At our last dinner our guests raved about how the whole experience was practically 5 star (beyond what we had even promised) and asked how it could have been any better. As I finished my fine lobster serving near the end of our four course dinner, I looked over to the other dad, who had the same look on his face that we all had (that confused look of mixed satisfaction and disappointment that a fabulous experience is coming to an end).

We were already satiated and not actually hungry, but the thought of leaving caused me to boldly suggest that we have another lobster. I'm normally not the gluttonous type, but I had a little twinge that I could justify one more indulgence and give our guests another reason to feel good about the visit. Even as our wives blushed with embarrassment, we asked our waiter about another serving, and he very quickly returned to the kitchen with a look to us that was almost nonchalant. I didn't know if he'd have to check with the chef, or do something else, but his look was reassuring even though he didn't say exactly what he was doing. In a few short minutes he returned with two new lobster servings for us, and Mom #2 felt the urge to say out loud, "this place is 5-star!" We had to agree for the entire visit.

Our experience in June reminds me to note that some issues non-German visitors might worry about are covered well by Alpenrose. Since we speak German, but our guests don't we noticed that the menu options this visit were printed in English for our convenience (probably a new change). As other reviewers note, all staff we encounter have a great command of English to make us Amis or Brits more than comfortable using any facilities or amenities. This is true as well for the Kids' Club and other options. As a parent I understand the concern about whether a child will take to playing among kids from different cultures and languages, but every year we find that our daughter (and this year even our guests' kids) will have little problem with any language barriers. We always depart having made friends with new families from across Europe. The kids seem just fine wanting to play, explore and have fun.

Next time we will partake in even more options at Alpenrose and in the surrounding areas, and maybe we can try a visit during the winter for a new experience. All ratings this time go to 5/Excellent for us without exception! This is worth the cost and gets better in my opinion each time. Even if our daughter outgrows it, the adults in the family might not. ;-)

“This hotel gave us our best holiday ever! Highly recommended.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

From the moment of arrival we were made to feel welcome.
The staff were attentive to our every need and we were touched by some nice gestures from staff bringing us food to our room after such a late arrival. This sums up the hotels thoughtfulness towards their guests pretty well.

The food was the best we've ever had, the menus change daily and the choice caters for all. The service in the restaraunt was first class with plenty of staff around so you don't sit waiting.

The suite we booked was spotlessly clean, immacculately presented and was everything if not more than we were hoping for. It was particularly ideal for getting a young tired child down at a reasonable time and still having the space to relax and stretch out.

Best about this hotel though is whats in it for the kids.
There are playparks all over this hotel, outside and in. pedal karts, electric go-karts, sand play areas, bouncy castle, indoor soft play area, giant slide, indoor gym for football/basketball, trampolines, tots outdoor play area, pool with pedal boats for kids, paddle pool area with pirate ship and more for the kids to play on, internal and external swimming pools (which are connected so you can swim between them which the kids love doing), cinema/theatre, teenager rec room with computer games/table tennis/pool table etc, free bike hire & push chair hire etc etc etc.. all within the hotel grounds.

A big part of what you pay for is the all day care on offer with the kids club which we didn't use as our kids speak only english, and though this was never a problem at any other time as the english of most staff was excellent, we opted out of this as most kids would've obviously been speaking german and the kids may have felt alienated.
This took nothing away from how much we enjoyed the place though, with so much to do we could still chill out and relax while the kids played away in the hotel grounds.

If I've got to give a negative for the sake of balance then the only annoying thing for us were the flies in the restaurant. I struggle to think what the hotel could do about that though.

All in all this hotel gave us the most enjoyable week possible and we will be going back next year for longer. It is a bit pricey though, but after visiting the cost is out of the window. Its an incredible hotel that gives a truely wonderful family experience.

We went as a family and stayed for 1 week July 2011.

Room Tip: though all rooms offer balconies with inredible mountain view, the wellness suites have the best vie...
