“This hotel gave us our best holiday ever! Highly recommended.”

From the moment of arrival we were made to feel welcome.
The staff were attentive to our every need and we were touched by some nice gestures from staff bringing us food to our room after such a late arrival. This sums up the hotels thoughtfulness towards their guests pretty well.

The food was the best we've ever had, the menus change daily and the choice caters for all. The service in the restaraunt was first class with plenty of staff around so you don't sit waiting.

The suite we booked was spotlessly clean, immacculately presented and was everything if not more than we were hoping for. It was particularly ideal for getting a young tired child down at a reasonable time and still having the space to relax and stretch out.

Best about this hotel though is whats in it for the kids.
There are playparks all over this hotel, outside and in. pedal karts, electric go-karts, sand play areas, bouncy castle, indoor soft play area, giant slide, indoor gym for football/basketball, trampolines, tots outdoor play area, pool with pedal boats for kids, paddle pool area with pirate ship and more for the kids to play on, internal and external swimming pools (which are connected so you can swim between them which the kids love doing), cinema/theatre, teenager rec room with computer games/table tennis/pool table etc, free bike hire & push chair hire etc etc etc.. all within the hotel grounds.

A big part of what you pay for is the all day care on offer with the kids club which we didn't use as our kids speak only english, and though this was never a problem at any other time as the english of most staff was excellent, we opted out of this as most kids would've obviously been speaking german and the kids may have felt alienated.
This took nothing away from how much we enjoyed the place though, with so much to do we could still chill out and relax while the kids played away in the hotel grounds.

If I've got to give a negative for the sake of balance then the only annoying thing for us were the flies in the restaurant. I struggle to think what the hotel could do about that though.

All in all this hotel gave us the most enjoyable week possible and we will be going back next year for longer. It is a bit pricey though, but after visiting the cost is out of the window. Its an incredible hotel that gives a truely wonderful family experience.

We went as a family and stayed for 1 week July 2011.

Room Tip: though all rooms offer balconies with inredible mountain view, the wellness suites have the best vie...

“Another good experience at the Alpenrose”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

This was our second visit to the Alpenrose and I would say it was as good as the first. The room was in the older part of the building and I was initially concerned, but I shouldn't have been as it was perfectly fine and the bathroom, though small was spotlessly clean. I enjoyed some great treatments in the spa,and when the sun shone the outdoor pool area was blissful. The service in the restaurant continues to be erratic, and there is a distinct lack of a restaurant manager which might explain why, however the sommelier was excellent. The food was not as good as I remembered, quite salty, but nothing to complain about. The kids were happy enough in the kids club, it mainly caters for the German speaking guests so you have to make it clear that the children want to join in the activities or they get overlooked slightly. Overall, a relaxing break for us and lots of fun for the children so couldn't ask for more!

“This is how it should be done.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2011

The attention to detail at this hotel is amazing and that is what makes it so fantastic. The staff are incredible, the surroundings both in the hotel and outside are stunning, the food is without doubt the best I have tasted in any hotel and the whole experience of Alpenrose was a pleasure from the first day to the last.
It seems expensive when compared to other alpine hotels but trust me it is worth it. The all inclusive child care was superb and my 4 yr old loved it. He learned to ski at Bobos Ski School with all tuition and equipment included.
The one thing that we did not have was the ability to speak German and while this did not cause to many problems as everyone spoke some English, it would have helped us in welcome meetings and on menus as mostly they were in German. I appreciate that Kinder Hotels are only really starting out selling holidays in the UK and I am sure that this small problem will be resolved as more English people use the hotel.
This aside it took nothing away from our enjoyment.
The baby monitoring facilities are excellent, but if on occasions your little one will not go to sleep the amazing staff will serve you a 5 course meal in your room complete with flowers for no extra charge. English hotel owners should visit and see how it should be done.
The hotel also has a beautiful spa complex which would not be out of place in any hotel in the world. Heated outdoor pools and hot tubs also add to the experience with the amazing backdrop of alpine peaks as you swim.
The rooms are also very very good. We had a family room with a sperate bedroom for our son which worked really well but some of the suites are incredible but a little out of our budget
I cannot praise this hotel enough. Please try it you will not be dissapointed.

“Outstanding. Again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2011

This was our fifth vacation in this hotel and we are booked for our next ski vacation in 2012 already.

Great location-- the ski lift is just a short walk across the street. Children are ferried to and from the ski school by the hotel bus.
Rooms are spacious, there is lots of choice in different types (and prices of) rooms anyway, the food is fabulous. We even thought the food this year better than last year. Extensive wine list. Impressive wine cellar too, we joined a wine tasting organised by the hotel in its Wine Lounge. Needless to say that that was a lot of fun ;-)
For your ski vacation this really is a great place to go: convenient storage of your gear in-house, ski teachers will meet you in the hotel lobby should you wish. Reception can organise your ski passes and will book your ski classes or private lessons for you.
Our kids love the on-site entertaining by the 'mini-club', they jump in the pool every day, even after a long day of skiing.
I graded the 'value' a 4 but only because I think this type of trip is expensive. It just is. But well worth the money though!

“Second stay, probably last stay”

Because we were so positively surprised in March 2009 (see previous review), we opted again for the Alpenrose for a Winter break although the offer was significantly higher than the year before. Unfortunately, this was a very poor decision from our side, not only because every family member ended up in bed for a couple of days during our 2-week stay (gastro-intestinal diseases), but also because of the poor service received.
Examples:
- Meal service to the room is not offered in high season so that the sick can spread the flu even easier in the restaurant.
- Asking for a special type of baby glass (not even a freshly cooked meal) was more than once ignored or we were told that this type is not available (while strangely the child at the neighbor table was getting it).
- Same experience with some of the lower priced wine
- On checkout, our vouchers (sent by the hotel for our birthdays) were no longer valid (after some lengthy discussion partially conceded)
- After a week, we changed the linen of the children bed our self. Needless to say that bathrobes were also not exchanged after a week use.

The Alpenrose seems unfortunately to have been optimized for a maximum return for the owners and industrialized to a maximum at the detriment of the hospitality and cleanliness (as a parting gift our child got chicken pox appearing a couple of days after returning home). As we had the same experience in other of the leading family hotels, we came to the conclusion that the leading mainly related to the pricing and that we will avoid going to these hotels in the future.
