My partner booked this as a suposedly romantic get away through Hayes Travel for our wedding anniversary, but unfortunately it was not what he had in mind. We left a message for Hayes travel when we reached the hotel to say that we were not happy, but they did not respond.
Main points for consideration:
1) The hotel is clean, and SOME of the staff are friendly to the English, but be warned this is where the Spanish go for their holidays and you get the impression that they are not happy about Europeans using their resort!
2) The food on offer is an all you can eat buffet, however the mixtures of food on offer was a bit strange to say the least.
3) Very close to the beach, though the beach front area is very tacky.
4) Considering the hotel holds over 200 people, the bar area hold about 20 and shuts at 11pm! People actually play cards in it, it's THAT boring!
5) There is NO music or entertainment of any kind in the evenings apart from the Spanish equivalent of what I can only describe as line/folk dancing?!?!! VERY BIZARRE!
6) There is nothing for children to do in Coma-Ruga.
7) The pool area is ok, though it would have been nice to have some music and the pool side cafe doesn't open until 4pm and only for a couple of hours. The cafe only sells a few items, and if you want to drink anything in the morning you have to bring your own from elsewhere.
8) We didn't find any nice restaurants or bars nearby.
9) If you want something lively, the nearest town is Salou, which is 30mins away by train, and the last train back is around 10pm. Taxi's are not cheap and Coma-Ruga is very far away from anywhere.
10) Few people outside the hotel speak or understand English.
11) A taxi from Reus airport is around 60 euros.
If you are English, a young couple or have a family I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel!! All the English we met were looking to move hotels after the first night!
