This is the most fabulous way to base yourself in Skala. Atop a mountain retreat, nestled in a cosy and charming family run hotel Villa Eliza offers amazing real holidays...Lovely gardens, friendly owners and great hospitality !
Clean, peaceful and comfortable A hidden gem!
Just book it and see for yourselves you won't regret it.
Skala beach is expansive, most of it sandy with crystal clear waters. Very nice beach and not crowded !!

Room Tip: balcony or patio rooms

“The best apartment in Skala”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2008

OK. Don't beleive the negative reviews. If you are a typical package holiday chump then you will hate these apartments, but if you like interacting with (shock, horror) real foreign people while on holiday, then you'll like these apartments and i guess you will like staying here.

The apartments are set in a beautiful garden. Loukia, the owner, grows chillis, tomatoes, pomegranates, basil, cucumber, thyme, parsley, mint and all sorts in her garden. She also has some chickens and turkeys too!

Now, if you are smart you might consider taking some English toffee over with you as a little gift for her. I did and she gave me lots of fresh tomatoes and eggs all holiday. Delicious! I think she would have given me them anyway though...

I got ill one day and Loukia offered to drive me to the next town. She is sweet. Speaking to her takes a bit of thinking as she doesn't speak too much English, but guess what - YOU ARE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY!!!!! She also has a lovely dog that I was feeding snacks too every morning. Cute as!!!

Anyway, enjoy......

“LOVED THE PLACE AND WOULD GO BACK,,,,,”

just returned from 2 weeks at the Elisa and had a great time. Would def go back again. The owner,Loukia, doesn't speak any english so has probs communicating but as i speak greek we got on fine. The aprtments have just been renovated and air con has been installed in most rooms. The rest to be installed at the end of the season. Some of the rooms have also been refurbished and she is in the process of doing up the rest. The gardens are great but be warned, the owner doesn't like towles to be hung on the balconies. She provides a washing line for that and would prefer if everybody used it.
Don't be surprised if you find fresh eggs and tomatoes and cucumbers on the balconies in the morning and she like to give thing to her guests.

Overall the resort is quite and relaxing. There are steps to the apartments but this was explained and as this was not a race, i just took my time.

Go for yourselves and enjoy

“Horrendous - Do not stay there!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2007

We booked to stay at the Elisa for a week and we arrived on 30th September. The actual apartments are on a very steep hillside and therefore are no good for anyone who has problems walking. The apartments look very nice from the outside, the gardens are extremely pleasant. The first thing is there are no room numbers on the apartment doors which obviously caused confusion on arrival!! The owner of the apartments Lucia hardly speaks any English and tends to just grunt at you!! Once inside the apartment we found it extremely old fashioned and in need of some serious updating! The only good thing about the apartment was the sea view and this really was the only good point. One night we had no water and were unable to even have a shower!! The owner has no cleaner and cleans the rooms herself but refuses to empty bins so you have to empty your own and walk down the road and dispose of rubbish yourself!!! You also need to be aware that eventhough it is not written anywhere if you do hang your towels on the balcony to dry out the owner will come banging on your door to order you to remove them!! When we asked why all she could say was "not nice"! We have been to Skala 4 times and this is the first time we have been told off for hanging towels out. We did complain to the rep about her attitude as we found her extremely aggressive and has no concept that she has guests and no idea of how to deal with people - interpersonal skills are none existant!! All in all Skala was wonderful but I would advise people to avoid these apartments as no one should have to put up with the attitude of the owner anytime especially when on a long awaited holiday!
