“Worth the wait.”

We were originally going to Lovere in June, but had to alter our plans and went in September. It was worth the wait. Hotel Lovere is in a good position and we had a good view of the lake from our room. the room was very spacious, very clean and well equipped. The staff provided excellent service. The restaurant proved to be one of the best of the ones we tried in Lovere. The breakfast was plentiful with enough choice to satisfy anyone, especially the lady who took three croissants away in her bag!!
We had no problem in finding things to do, even though we were there out of season. After a very wet night on our arrival, the weather brightened up and we explored the huge Saturday market. We went by ferry to Pisogne and caught the train to Iseo, coming back in time to get the last ferry to Lovere. There aren'ty many ferries out of season, but it is still possible to get around and they are so much cheaper than the ones on Lake Garda. There is a lot to see in Lovere, especially the stunning churches and the medieval part of the town. Enough bars, cafes and restaurants to keep you going and some lovely shops. Particularly recommend the ice cream parlour by the lake near the ferry terminal. We also went by ferry and train down to Sulzano, where the ferries run every 10 minutes to the island. Will definitely go back

“Rooms are ok, but service is excellent”

We stayed in a room with lake view (106). It was more than a bit worn down but quite spacious and the view from the balcony was really nice. What sets this Hotel (and restaurant) apart is the excellent service. Food (incl. breakfast) was really good and prices were reasonable. Would absolutely recommend it.

Great Location, food/wine, views (on Lake Iseo), staff, car trips around lake, and overall experience.

“Very poor restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2009

Took the 15 Euro per head per person dinner offer as per the advice of the owner/manager.
What a fiasco, food cold tiny portions, long wait and to cap it a piece of Angler fish that was not cooked.
Waited and waited then walked out before they managed to serve my salad, which should have come with the main course!.
Pudding and coffee were missed, not sure if that was a blessing or not
My wife being lazy re walking to a decent restaurant convinced me to go back the next night and we played safe with pizza.
Going mad we ordered a bowl of chips each, just as well because it took them nearly an hour to produce a very mediocre pizza.
Service could only be described as Fawtly Towers , head waiter running around taking orders which were delivered to the wrong tables , kitchen that could not cope with the handful of people that were present that night.
People devouring every breadstick on the table to ward off the hunger.
The whole thing was summed up by the young male waiter who walked around the resuraunt flinging fresh tablecloths like frisbees at the vacant tables.
Numerous people moaned about the service etc and promised to post their comments on this site
I sent a polite email to the owner pointing out that the catering side was killing what was in reality a nice hotel, promised a reply, still waiting !!!.
Wont be going back there so I was not looking for any form of compensation just pointing out what a shambles the catering side of the hotel was in.
Go there to sleep , eat somewhere else unless they have had a radical makeover in the resturaunt

“Relaxing and pleasant but not 4 stars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

We stayed in the perhaps nicest lake-facing room where the view is not obscured by other buildings or lampposts (I think it was no 102, next to last room anyway). The room was nice and spacious, with neutral, relaxing tones of blue, and sofa, minibar, closet, tables and chairs etc. The balcony has a nice view but gets very hot midday and would need an umbrella. The main road around the lake passes right between this hotel and the lake so the traffic under your balcony is quite noisy, though the good windows block out the noise at night. Its not a balcony that you would sit on for ages though, what a difference it would be without the road!

The hotel is 4 star which seems a bit over the top, though it is clean and new. The service is friendly but a bit amateurish, and information in English about amenities in the area and a map of Lovere town would have been nice.

The restaurant is a relaxed place, good for families with children, and the food had some real highlights but was uneven. The tasting menu with fish from the lake was a dissapointment, but the veal with porcini mushrooms that I had the first day was amazing. Had it again day 3 and it looked different and tasted less superb. Try Franciacorta lokal wines, they are great!

Breakfast was good by Italian measures, though if you came towards the end of breakfast you got much less of a choice. There was scrambled and boiled eggs, white breadrolls, cakes and croissants, fruit, yoghurt and unspectacular ham and chease. To this juice and there was a coffee machine, BUT also free espressa/cappucciono/americano from the bar! My husband ordered two double expressos for himself every morning and they didn't twich an eyebrow.

We also had treatments at the wellness centre, wich was good value for money but not a superduper place. The chocolate massage really covers you in real chocolate which was fun, but it isn't much of a massage and didn't do any wonders. The wellness relax path that gives you 2 hours in their little relax area is nice enough, with pool, some hydromassage jets, a finnish and turkish sauna and some misty scented showers. They make a bit much of this small but beautiful space in their marketing however.

We drove around the lake and took a boat out to Monte Isola island, which is relaxingly traffic-free and where you can swim in the lake and hire bikes and go around the 9 km path around the island. We hired a tandem bike and had a hilarious time! Worth knowing is that there is no beach or place to swim in the lake in Lovere itself, and that the lake was cold even in summer, colder than the sea had been.

The best thing was that the area didn't feel like a tourist trap and wasn't very crowded, the guests were mainly italians and hence prices much better than in the touristier areas.
