We stayed at Ca'Noeva after spending the day at Ristorante il Caminetto learning from Moreno traditional italian cooking (the adjoining restaurant that runs Cookery Courses during the day).
My friends and I booked the B&B - two rooms however Moreno advised that even though there is plenty of room (enough for 10 people) as there are shared bathrooms he doesn't like to put to many people in. There were only 4 of us and the space was huge! 2 bathrooms to share along with lovely well stock kitchen and small lounge room to read or watch tv if you get any spare time.
We went across to the restaurant for dinner in the evening but Moreno was unfortunatley quite unwell. Instead of being pointed onto the another close restaurant, Rosella his lovely wife made us a lovely italian style gourmet picnic to have outside the B&B on the outdoor table. This was one of the best meals we had in Lake Como- so simple but delicious! The price of the B&B is very good value for the space you get. I'd highly recommend staying here.

After a nightmare experience at Crotto di Gittana down the road we found a little piece of heaven here. Moreno and Rosello and their lovely family made the stay wonderful. The B and B itself is very old, full of charm but perfectly comfortable with everything and more you need. The restaurant across the road is also owned by this family and the food was the best we ate it italy. Rosello showed us a wonderful mountain walk from the village which we enjoyed. The village itself is full of charm and very handy for Varenna which is a wonderful little town by the lake.

We booked for 3 nights online but had to stay for 6.Moreno and Rossella treated us as family right from the first meeting.Luckily we had the house to ourselves during this time and a car so we were able to take delight in driving the tiny winding roads to the B&B. We could have taken breakfast in their restautant each morning but as there was so much of the magnificent Lake Como to explore Moreno provided us a platter for breakfast each morning including cheese,eggs,prosciutto, bread,fresh fruit yogurt,cake and an expresso machine for never ending Italian coffee, and we could set off early. We had a room on the top floor and the view both day and night of the lake was spectacular. We ate across the road at their restaurant Il Caminetto where the food is divine and the service given by Moreno and Rossella very personal. You just need to go!!
The church bell chimes every half hour day and night so I thought this might be a problem but it just added to the charm of this delightful village

The second leg of our 21 day Italian adventure found us at Lake Como. We took Rick Steves' advice and stayed in Varenna. More specifically, we stayed in Gittana at B & B Ca' Noeva. Rossella picked us up at the train station in Varenna. We mentioned that we needed some train tickets for upcoming parts of our trip. She stopped in town at a travel agent that she knew. We took care of the train tickets (how convenient!) and we were on our way up the hill to the B & B. On the way Rossella apologizes that her English is not fluent. She needn't. We wished we spoke Italian as well as she spoke English. As we drove up the hill, we could only imagine how nice the view must be from the B & B. We were not disappointed! The view was fantastic! The B & B is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath building that Moreno and Rossella renovated and have been operating for about 3 years. It is fully equipped with a living room, kitchen, and washing machine. Our wheels were turning..."this would be a great place for a family reunion or other group!" The rooms are very nice and very comfortable. Our room had a great view of Lake Como. We really felt at home. Moreno and Rossella are first class hosts who have a first class product and absolutely know what they are doing. We recommend staying here. We WILL be back! And by the way...eat at their restauant while you are there.
