I was there for about a week in march 2011...despite the awful weather.. it was raining condiniously... i had a great time there. The lake is a relly romantic place and the villages around are like a fairy tale. I had made a reservation for 2 standard rooms in the main building of the hotel.... but due to renovation work there..the hotel staff gave us 2 rooms in villa imperiale...with no extra charge!!!!! The view from our room was magnificent... The hotel staff were very helpful and there any time we needed them.... Im looking forward to return there again!!!!!

“Very nice, would recommend”

I stayed here a couple of times for work. The main building is fairly 'standard', nice but not exceptional, the conference facilities are quite dated. However the lakeside building, with bar, restaurant and pool, is absolutely lovely. There are nice seating areas in the sun or shade, a reasonable sized pool right by the river and the views are absolutely stunning. The restaurant overlooks a stunning lawn which runs right up to the water - this is a great area for events or dinners.
Moltrasio itself is very small with only a couple of shops, but there are other restaurants, shops etc within a few miles drive, and it is a stunning area.
The Events Manager was fantastic too, so I'd recommend this for holidays or events, especially if you can use the lawn area by the lake.

“Appreciative Cancellation Policy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We had booked the Grand Imperiale Moltrasio for three nights as part of our Italian holiday earlier this month.Unfortunately due to a family illness back in Australia, we had to cut our trip short and return home. We were only able to provide the hotel 12 hours notice and was fully expecting to loose one nights accommodation as this was the published cancellation fee on our booking confirmation. To our appreciative surprise, we received an email within a few hours saying they were sorry we had to cancel our booking and that no cancellation fees would be charged. Given the circumstances, we are very appreciative of the hotel's approach, and we look forward to booking the Grand Imperiale again when we are able to resume our trip.

“Bad cancellation policy”

Due to problems with our car it was impossible to use a prebooked room. I called the
hotel the day before our booking and explained what had happened. A couple of days
later EUR 176 was drawn from my credit card without explanation. I mailed to the hotel
and they explained that this was the policy from the hotel. I also asked if the hotel
was fully booked but did not get any answer.
I can understand the policy if the hotel was fully booked and that they had to say no
to other guests. When this is not the case it is an easy but greedy way to make profits to the hotel

Dear knota,

The hotel business had a dramatic change in pricing, paying and cancellation policy in the last 10years.
The marked push hotels to follow the rules developed by Airplanes company.
Years ago people were used to pay not refundable deposit in advance (still used in some places), rate were only connected with weather seasons.
Now most of the hotel have a cancellation policy of 1 day before the arrival and rates are connected to the forecasted occupancy for the day.
I have to say that all this changes had forced hotels to have much more flexibility in booking policy with an important benefit for the customer.
Sometimes we refuse requests for many days because we don’t have a room only for one of the night requested and later we receive a cancellation for that day.
In hotel like ours it is more difficult to manage last minute changes: due to the structure built in 1926 with many different kind of rooms in size or furniture (city hotel have many identical rooms ).
Sometimes we have room available for more days, but we cannot accept reservation for more night as the guest should change the room every morning.
In your case the hotel was not fully booked at the end of the day, And we couldn’t sell the room you have booked.
I’m sorry you didn’t received from us a proper answer to your email, I really apologize for that. Please contact me if you have any other query or you plan to come here again, I offer you 10% on best room rate available.

“A fabulous hotel... we will return”

By chance we got one of the last two rooms available here. We were travelling with our 10year old daughter and needed to stay where we could relax by a pool and enjoy the lake.
The Hotel did not disappoint us in anyway. From the moment we arrived to the day we left the staff were so happy and friendly and would do anything to help. Special thanks to Moudi,Karim and Diego and the manager Franco.
The breakfasts were fabulous with eggs, bacon, fruits, and the crossants were the best we had ever tasted.
We enjoyed happy hour every evening that included complimentary plates of bruscetta, chips, olives etc.
Dinner was beautiful one of the best fish dishes we have ever eaten. We ate at the lake side restaurant which was a little expensive (main meal approx $30AUD)but affordable and all the meals were brilliant/amazing.
It was what we needed for 3 nights. I would stay here again. Other reviews say that this hotel is overpriced for what it is...but hey it's Lake Como! It's not a place to come to if you are watching your pennies! We wanted to enjoy the view and the sunshine and eat and drink what we wanted and we were not disappointed.
