Spent 4 nights there last week with a large group ... very deceiving really as the Hotel is very grand and room quality was very good in a lovely setting on the slopes of Etna ... we were lucky enough to have a window looking up to Etna ... however that was it as the food was very average and not at all 'typical of the area' ... we were on some of the most fertile soil on the planet and they served up mashed potato and green beans !! ... very disorganised too ... food was not coming out table by table ... by the time some people had received their meals the others on the table had finished !! ... had to constantly ask for butter etc as tables not laid properly and when we did ask it felt like we were inconveniencing them !!... they also flatly refused to let us have jugs of water on the tables at Dinner ... we had to pay for bottled water only ... the attitute of staff was not good at all ... went to breakfast at 9 am one morning (was available untill 10 ) and there was no Bacon ... I asked for some more to be told that it had finished and if I wanted any then I had to pay for it !! ... as we were not playing Golf or spending lots of money we really felt we were being treated like second class citizens ... very isolated too ... nowhere close enough to stroll too ... such a shame as we had such great time in the two Hotels we stayed in previously on the trip in Italy ... it really made you feel that all Sicilians behaved in this way and I am sure it is not the case at all ...
