In spite of being 2 blocks back from the sea front and in the shadow of the two tallest apartment blocks in the town this place is a little oasis of calm.
Very clean room with crisp bedding (regularly changed ) and terrace overlooking the square - ok noisy at rush hour but otherwise fine. Basic bathroom but plenty of large white fluffy towels, bath and shower.
Downstairs a most attractive but tiny garden area between the restaurant and bar. Restaurant very popular with the locals (always a good sign) and excellent value but a very typical Catalan menu (which we loved so much we dined in every day).
The staff throughout the Hostal were most obliging and friendly and we couldn't have wished for a more relaxing week.
The one major drawback we found was the on-street parking and the danger of damage to the hire car - may be best to park 200 - 300 metres away in wider, quieter streets.
I first ate in the restaurant nearly 40 years ago and have eaten there several times since but this is the first time we have stayed. We will definitely return.
(We saw no other English in the hostal or dining room and in fact very few in Palamos - this suited us well but maybe not everyone).
