Bayahibe is a beautiful area but almost completely taken over by all-inclusive resorts. The town is small with huge walls blocking out most of the beachfront. Cabanas Elke is a nice option to be near this lovely beach without being in such a resort. It is a short walk to the small public beach and they provide bikes if you like. The rooms are clean and large but the acoustics are not great, especially if someone is using the bathroom upstairs. Maybe the upstairs rooms are better in this aspect. (Sounded like buckets of water falling down) There is cable TV, a large bed, a swimming pool, free wifi in the lobby area and they provide bottled water every day. The staff is friendly and courteous (though not much English--it helps if you know Italian or Spanish) and their restaurant is pretty good too, with fresh lobsters and pizzas!
