Stayed January 15-26 2012 for 11 nights on half board. Booked through Bookings.com who advertised a room with spectacular sea views. On arrival found we were on the first floor overlooking a main road and we had to pay extra for a room upgrade.
The dining room was like a bun fight at the OK coral with too many people fighting for a table and then to find that most of the buffet food was lukewarm.Our bathroom was a joy to behold with the the toilet needing about 8 to 10 flushes to discharge the waste. This problem was reported to reception but the situation did not improve. The shower ran hot/cold with no temperature control. Our balcony appeared to be suffering from concrete cancer and my wife was nervous when walking onto it because it creaked.
The lifts were completely inadequate and we sometimes had to wait for 10 minutes at busy times. The entertainment we found to be mediocre and we were disappointed.
Some outside terraces seemed to have been abandoned with no available seating.
To summarize this is a poor 4 star hotel in need of major upgrading.
Having previously stayed at the Iberostar Hotel Las Dalias nearby I would strongly recommend that Hotel as a alternative.
Be cautious when making online bookings with booking agencies as they do not always represent the room description that is allocated on arrival .

We stayed at the Bouganville from 12 to 19 January. The hotel is well positioned between Adeje and Playa Americas which means a long lazy walk either way with plenty of opportunities to stop along the way. Also the bus service is busy but regular.

The hotel was good albeit the rooms are slightly tired - a makeover is due - but this is not a problem as they are perfectly acceptable. The food was very good with plenty of choice. Only slight problem was you had to find your own table as the hotel was busy. Again this was no problem as it only took a short time for the waiters to set the table.

After being expensive several years ago the prices in Tenerife are now very reasonable - you'll get a beer during the day for 1 to 1.5 euros - this does rise at night but still cheap enough. There are plenty restuarants and the meals are not expensive. Also the entertainment at the bars round the hotel was good.

We visited Santa Cruz by local bus and you can get to other places like Peurto de la Cruz easily - the bus station is only 5 minutes away. Best to get a bono pre paid card as this saves 30 to 40% on bus fares. You can get these at the bus station.

We didn't go on any trips but these seemed to be the same price as several years ago.

We flew Ryan air - not my first choice airline - but on this occassion I have no complaints - planes were dead on time and arrived early.

All in all we had a great time (weather was great) and I would recommend the hotel, but remember you get what you pay for.

We stayed one night here in December, so pls read this review in that context. It's a massive hotel which looks & feels like some sort of 70s carbunkle. On the plus side I thought the location was good - it's close to the beach and restaurants and has a couple of pools (we didn't stay long enough to try them out or see how much sun they get). Breakfast is good, but packed with hundreds of people all eating at the same time, so if you want a relaxed, intimate breakfast, this is not the place for you. Our room was ok, but the beds (a twin set-up, not a proper double) had seen better days and so I've definitely slept better in other places. If you can get a good deal I would recommend it, but I wouldn't pay over the odds for it.

We stayed in Iberostar Bouganvilla from 20th of december 2011 – 2nd of januar 2012. Group of 7, 6 adults and 1 baby. The vacation started great when we were welcomed with a welcome drink which we had never got before in any other hotel. We had 3 rooms on the first floor, maybe nothing special but enough for us and they were always clean. There was a problem in one of our rooms with water pressure but that was fixed immediatly after we complained in the reception. We got a great view over hotel garden from our room.
The Hotel area was great, big garden with enough space to lie in the sun. 3 swimmingpools, the heated one was popular but the cold one was also good in warm days. And there was a small one for children.
We had all inclusive and we did not regret buying it because the food was so good. Every evening there was plenty of choices for everyone, meat, fish, pasta,pizza, vegetable….And the deserts were delicious. Breakfast and lunch were also good with enough choices for everyone. Christmas evening and new years evening was especially good, great decorations and even better food. After christmas dinner we enjoyed listen to 3 tenors singing for the guests.
On Christmas day came Santa with a gift for every child at the hotel.
We have stayed in few other hotels in Tenerife but the staff in Iberostar Bouganvilla were the best. Everyone so friendly and polite. Always ready to help you and though they had plenty to do during dinner time they always gave a time to play with our 9 month old girl. The animation staff was also great, they worked all day and evenings to entertain the guests and they did well. During the day there was always something for everyone, aqua gym, darts, bowling, mini golf, football and more. And evenings there was always some show, some better then others but they tried hard to entertain the guests. Hard working and great people and we really enjoyed their activities. Karaoke was also open all evenings.
I loved that every evening when we got to and from dinner there was always someone from the animation team in front of the dining hall welcoming the guests.
We had a great christmas holidays in Iberostar Bouganvilla and we would definietly liked to stay in this hotel again.
