“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We came here last year and enjoyed it. Booked flight direct and accomodation with expedia. This time we paid extra for upgraded sea view, it was well worth it.
All staff we encountered were great, friendly and helpful.
The reception was especially good.
We ate in the restaurant over the swimming pool a few lunch times, it was as good as anywhere on tenerife and priced right.
Cant think of a bad point.

We stay here to eat in the village of La Caleta which are some of the best restaurants in Europe.
Celsa which is the shabbiest looking is still the best food.
There are now a few bars in the back streets, we went to James bar most nights it was just what we wanted. Good drink and music, very friendly staff and long stay let people.
The only bad thing is the resort is getting busy now as more foriegn residential propertiers are being built around the village.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the ugrade sea view.

“A good stay in a large hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in January. The hotel is spacious, as was our room. Everything was clean and tidy and our only minor issue was that the location of our particular room meant that we got virtually no sun on our balcony.
The food was good and with plenty of choice - the only problem was to avoid over-eating!.
I was surprised to read recent "iffy" reviews, because we had no complaints, and found the staff helpful. One has to accept that it is a very big hotel which may occasionally lead to a lack of "personal feel"; and there can be delays at reception when large groups of visitors all arrive together.

Very good hotel. Magnificent surroundings of the hotel. Excellent pools. One pool heated. Hotel away from the city center. Very quiet. Hotel facilities very good. Gym, indoor pool, spa. The rooms are not big but clean. I highly recommend this hotel for people who like to relax.

“A very mixed bag”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This hotel operates on the "you get what you pay for" principle, but it's not what you expect. We booked through Thomas Cook and were led to believe we'd have a very smart, comfortable and spacious "side seaview" room. I wasn't expecting fabulous, but at the same time, I wasn't prepared for grotty, dark and cramped - that's what our first room was like. It was on the ground floor (3rd floor), right at the back of the hotel. The tiled floor was heavily scratched and the decor was tired. There was no seaview. It looked nothing like any of the rooms promoted on the hotel's website, or by Thomas Cook in their "My Style" brochure.

I immediately asked for another room and was told by reception that the hotel was full. The supervisor also showed me the booking form they'd received from Thomas Cook and told me that the code printed on it was an indicator of the sort of room to which we were entitled: the very cheapest. I pointed out that the holiday wasn't cheap and that I could have chosen another hotel. She offered to upgrade me for an additional payment. I refused to pay more and she relented and offered me another room, on an even lower floor with a view (and sound) of a building site. I declined it, stood my ground and was finally given a room on the 4th floor with a side view of the sea. It was basic (3 star at best), but clean and bright with fresher decor. A number of other couples who were checking in that day also rejected their original rooms and were moved. Some paid extra for the "privilege".

The hotel is in a good location, right on the beach and 7km promenade, and the pools and grounds are lovely. Note to adults who want to plough up and down doing lengths: use the adult pool and leave the kids' pool to the kids.

We were on half board and enjoyed the food, which was varied and well presented. There was fresh fish every evening and some great salads and desserts.

The Wifi is patchy - don't rely on it. The gym is poor - a large space with very little equipment, certainly nothing like the image portrayed on the website. The entertainment isn't bad, but the eagle show is disgraceful: a small wooden box and a dark bar full of shouting kids is no place for a magnificent bird of prey. The hotel should be ashamed of itself for booking this sort of spectacle.

I would return to this area, but would try a different hotel next time. Unless, of course, I'd booked a bargain basement deal and was expecting a bargain basement room.

Room Tip: Try to get a higher room near the front.

“Rude Reception Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We stayed here early January. The front reception staff are rude, and unhelpful. We requested a late check out, that was approved and written down. However when it came to it we were locked out of our room. It was implied I was a liar and when I complained it was made out because we were British. My response I would expect better service where ever I was, and my expectations would be the same, and had nothing to do with my nationality. We did feel that others from other nations were given priority.
Positively, this is a nice hotel set in lovely grounds. We loved the location on the edge of the busy resort. The walk into town after the nearest section is lovely, but this section needs better lighting and pathways.
Restaurant was as expected from an All Inclusive, although not that much choice. I would not book half board again, but the breakfast was nice. We have been in much better.
All in all, it's a shame because this has great potential.
Entertainment was dire even when the hotel was full, and we never lasted more than 5 minutes.
