We stayed at Jardin Caleta for 14 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our tour rep advised us we were their only customers staying at the hotel which I can't understand as it was super. The staff were friendly and helpful. there were lifts to every floor, the view from our room was awsome, from Parque Santiago on the left, round to the tiny La Caleta harbour on the right, right out to sea to La Gomera. The food in the hotel was plentiful, fresh and tasty, and the ladies who ran the pool restaurant during the day were absolutely lovely. If you fancied a short walk round to La Caleta there were a number of very reasonable restaurants catering to every taste.
The bus stopped right outside the hotel, and for Euro 1.30 we could travel right to Los Christianos, and the bus drivers thought they were Stirling Moss - great fun! One small blot was the newly created 'beach' beside the hotel, which has a strip of unpleasant sand at the back and then a huge hump of really sharp shingle leading to the sea at a very sharp angle. We visited once - for all of 30 minute and left with very sore feet.. A 20 minute walk took you to Del Duque beach - absolutely marvellous soft sand and lovely warm sea. However, we spent most of our time beside the pool. Both the larger pools were rather deep at 1.75m, but there was a toddler pool for the teenies. Most of the children didn't care about the depth and in case of emergency, a lifeguard was on duty every day from 10.30 till 5.30pm. And for those who preferred a quiet time there is a jaccuzzi and space for about 12 sunbathers up on the roof!! All in all a very pleasant holiday and one we will be repeating at the same hotel again.
