“Excellent hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

This hotel is excellent – everything works as it should (which to be honest I rarely find to be the case when I travel). Our transfer from the airport was seamless; check in ditto, facilities, dining, spa – all marvellous! It was extremely (unusually I believe) hot when we stayed there (35/36 degrees) and future guests should note that the hotel is not air conditioned. However one quickly adjusts to this and because it is a quiet place we were able to sleep with our balcony windows open every night. The food is very good indeed - the breakfast and evening buffets are extensive and there are two choices of evening restaurant included within the half board. We dined in the a la carte restaurant one night (at additional cost) and found this to be excellent. One evening, as we arrived for dinner, the maitre’d was temorarily away from his post. There was another man in the lobby talking on his mobile phone. When he saw us he immediately broke off his conversation and came to greet us, switching to English as soon as he realised we didn’t speak German. He asked where we’d like to sit and then the maitre’d returned to take us to our table. He told us that the man we spoke to was the owner of the hotel, Karl Reiter. I like to see the owner of a hotel interacting with guests – this demonstrates to me that he cares about maintaining standards. The hotel also has its own extensive wine cellar and staff are knowledgable with regard to wine selection. All the hotel staff were very friendly and polite and speak very good English - we were impressed that they translated the guide to the day's events and meals each day. The bedrooms are very comfortable. The bar and lobby area is a little dated decoration-wise, but still pleasant. The spa areas are super-luxurious with many choices – the Merkur health centre is particularly good. The riding stables are also extremely smart and well run – I enjoyed riding there and hacking out in the nearby forest. All in all I would recommend this hotel 100%.

“This is fabulous - Will certainly return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

I have to say that every minute of our stay here was a real pleasure. We were very impressed with the friendly and efficient staff on the front desk - they really could not have been more helpful and polite. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was taken care of quickly and to the best of their ability.

The room was wonderful: modern, clean, quiet and comfortable.

The resort facilities were excellent and we truly felt as if we were in 5 star heaven. The food really was splendid as was the attentive, but not overwhelming, service of the waiters.

The riding facilities were excellent - and the two ladies that took us on our rides were very nice and did their best to make sure that we had a good time. The stables were amazing, but they also cater for beginners and have small ponies for children ( although the hotel is for adults only, there is a family hotel next door ).

My husband and I are really quite hard to please and we've stayed in some very special hotels around the world - we shall certainly add the Supreme to our list !

There is a spa area where you are required to wear towels only ( no bathing suits !) which is a bit out of the ordinary for us Brits, but quite normal in Austria. We didn't go to this part of the spa - but this area is completely separate, and there are plenty of other areas and swimming pools where bathing suits are allowed. It didn't spoil our enjoyment.

“This is the real SPA experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2010

I went to Reiter's at the end of Feb 2010, for a 3 night stay to wind down a bit after an intensive work period. Left the kids at home with my husband, though Reiter's also has an adjoining SPA hotel catering brilliantly for kids.

The hotel wasn't busy at all, and that made it even more relaxing. They have a variety of pools, a large outdoor heated one with jacuzzi beds embedded in on the sides, two smaller ones that have the underground spa water at different temperatures, and the ying-yang pool which you can see on the website. The large outdoor pool is great for enjoying the sunset. They also have a large indoor pool, and a couple of jacuzzis that are much more powerful and fun than what we can generally find in the UK (one is called the pleasure pool and for good reason :-). There are also the expected steam rooms, saunas etc. The guests are very well looked after with water available almost everywhere, and free snacks and fruits in the main spa area. The place is spotless clean, and towels are available to use for the saunas etc. in addition to the bathrobes and slippers for each customer.

The food is excellent, with many health options in addition to richer dishes and sweets. The SPA and beauty treatments are good, with quite a few options.

They have a daily program of morning exercise in water, than a Nordic walk of 90 mins, then some yoga/tai chi/kung-fu class, and additional things like a tour with the chef&cocktaills, complementary 6pm drinks, nice live music etc. There is a resident Shaolin master who gives the tai chi/kungfu courses on most days, and also does a kind of shiatsu massage. Apparently they are brought in from China and each stays for 3 months.

During my stay of about 4 days, I never felt bored or lonely, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and there was so much to do that I often had to make difficult choices.

Rooms are very comfortable, and quality of accommodation is high without resorting to unnecessary luxury (L'Occitane toiletries plus their very special excellent soaps which can be bought from the hotel shop).

Above all, I can say this is a place managed/owned by people who really care for the comfort and happiness of their customers.

Minor warnings:

1.not everything is translated into English, as the hotel doesn't get much custom from the UK.

2. it is not easy to go the the hotel by train, but they can provide a pick up car for 89 Euros.

3. You need to use the main spa area naked, though you can use towels to cover yourself. This is easy to get used to, but may not be appropriate if you are going with other couples or business friends. There are also pools for people who want to wear swimming costumes, but these are not as good.

“Fabulous all round facilities in a beautiful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2008

The 5* Supreme Hotel is adults only (there is a 4* family hotel right next door which shares some of the sports facilities) and has wonderful sporting and spa facilities. The golf course is scenic, the spa and beauty salon has a comprehensive range of treatments and the restaurant is first class with an excellent range of Austrian and international wines. Of particular uniqueness is the Lippazaner stud farm and riding centre where equestrians can have lessons or go on hacks on beautifully schooled horses - a real treat. There is also a tennis school, fully equipped gym and myriad of other diversions. This really is a relaxing and fun place to spend time made all the better for the charming staff all of whom speak excellent English. It mainly seems to be visited by Austrians and is therefore a well kept secret so don't tell anyone!
