“Great”

We were looking for somewhere easy to get to with a 5 month old baby with large rooms but not too kiddy orientated - this was perfect.

There are 2 parts to the hotel - the all inclusive club side and the Prestige side. The Club part of the hotel looked like our idea of hell but the Prestige half was great.

The goods:
Enormous room with kitchenette. It's not modern "leather sofa" decoration but that makes quite a nice change.

Quality of buffet was excellent

Staff all very friendly and excellent with kids

Nice quiet pool area

The bads:
No kettle / tea coffee facilities but think we could have asked for a kettle.

Price of drinks was ridiculous. This is the first holiday where we have bought drink at a supermarket! Partly due to us being in the room more with baby but also due to prices

Not 5* service. All the staff were great but there just isn't enough. There werent many people in the Prestige part of the hotel so it wasnt too noticeable but for example we had to take our own suitcases on a long walk up hill as there was no bell boy!

However we had a great time and it took us 7 days to get bored of the buffet which was a pleasant surprise! You are a short walk from 5 or so restaurants which are nothing special but do decent enough food.

“Good family hotel. Little luxuries, very attentive staff”

We arrived back today after 1 week at the prestige.
We had a ground floor room & had a sea view, even though we didn't pay for it.
Hotel is literally a stones throw from the ocean & in all areas is pretty breath taking views.
All 52 suites are situated around the pool, main restaurant, well maintained lawns & balconies complete with 2 sun loungers, great when my children had a siesta. I still got to catch some rays.
Food, not superb, but varied & fresh.
Breakfast, you would be very fussy if you couldn't find something suitable.
You can use facilities in insotel but it's nice to get back to the padded sunbeds!
You get what you pay for, might not be 5* but we had a great time at a good price £3800 for a week, 2 adults, 3 children, half board.....
I would return!

“Nicely located but understaffed holidays resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

The hotel is located on a beautiful cape and enjoys views of the nearby Isla del Aire. Facilities are also nice. However, the service level is not 5-star. In fact, the hotel clearly is understaffed (although the few employees around always were very attentive), i.e. expect to wait for over an hour when having lunch at the pool bar. Oh, and if you want to use a wi-fi connection in your room, the price is 21 € per every 24 hours... not cheap at all.

“Not 5-star but still an enjoyable holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

My husband and I travelled with our 2 year old to this hotel for a week’s stay and overall really enjoyed our stay here.

Accommodation
The accommodation is made up of a lounge / dining area with kitchen area (in a cupboard effectively) and a separate double bedroom with good-sized ensuite (shower and separate spa bath). There is another separate toilet/shower room off the main living area. We had a ground floor apartment with a patio which could be reached from both rooms so ideal if young children are in bed early. As other reviewers have said, it is true that the décor is quite dated but it does the job and was clean. The cleaner was regular and did a good job. The towels were changed regularly. The kitchen area comprises a sink, microwave, fridge and two hobs – perhaps a bit small if you wanted to go fully self-catering but worked well for us as half-board since it was fine for making some lunch on a few days.

Pools
The prestige area has its own good sized pool with a small childrens section. Both were nice and clean but quite cold. Having read the previous reviews regarding inflatables and children etc I have to admit that we didn’t see any signs saying these weren’t allowed and the lifeguard didn’t say anything. At no time were the pools overrun with inflatables or children when we were there. There was also no problem getting sun loungers.

There is a large kids pool (and little ones splash pool) at the other end of the resort which was our daughter enjoyed but we avoided until late afternoon as there were a lot of kids there.

Food
The food at the restaurant was very good – lots of variety and there was a chef every night who cooked meat / fish fresh to order. The breakfasts were excellent with lots of choice and again eggs / omelette / bacon / pancakes cooked to order. I had thought that half-board meant we got wine with dinner (having read this in other reviews) but this is not the case, unless you are staying in the other side of the hotel. A bottle of wine was 15 Euros + but we still found that going half-board worked out better value than going all-inclusive (but we were not spending all night in the bar).

Location
The hotel is very close to the main street and beach – the prestige part is closer than the other side of the hotel but even then it is not too far a walk. There are a couple of supermarkets on the main street which are a lot cheaper than the one within the complex. The restaurants are okay although we struggled to find an “authentic” Spanish restaurant rather than the more touristy restaurants (although they still served a wide range of Spanish and English dishes). If you are staying longer than a week hiring a car might be a good idea to explore more of the island. We caught the bus to Mahon which was okay for a day out. We also caught the little train down the coast to the “traditional fishing village”, which although quite quaint, there wasn’t a great deal to do there, we didn’t find a nice restaurant overlooking the harbour like we had hoped. - it was an expensive trip for what it was.

Weather
We had good weather most of the week – plenty of sun and blue skies. There were a couple of overcast days and one afternoon of rain (and some rain overnight) but all in all in was about right.

Overall, it is not quite the 5-star hotel it is billed as but it is well set up for families and an enjoyable 4-star experience.

“No pen and paper in the room to write...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

No pen and paper in the room to write comments...is this a planned thing??

The rooms are very dated, the bathroom furniture and dates of the other furniture are only one step away from avocado!

The average cost of a sandwich and a drink  for two by the pool bar is €31

If you wish to join the throng and the adjoining section, club, hotel then the cost is €30 each for a buffet lunch.

The pool signs at the prestige area state no inflatelables etc...however, there are many lilies, balls, kids boats that the adults bring with the lifeguard saying nothing about this.

Noise levels are very high from screaming kids. Therefore if you are looking for a peaceful getaway then stay at home!

The nearby beach is dirty, small and ever so crowded.

The reception to the prestige do not know how much local fares and distances are!

Most areas of the hotel catering outlets smell of used frying oil. Then again, everything is with chips! Even the light sandwich!!

The pool at the prestige is freezing cold. It is very rare that you see people in there, just lilos!

The hotel is advertised as a suite and spa property. The spa is short staffed in September, hence less treatments. With only one person doing treatments and one doing the reception desk. The treatment costs, if you get any, are London prices. Get your treatments in the UK then come and grab some sun.
The suite has a pull down, out of the wall, bed, sofa beds, kitchenette and pots and pans. To me this says self catering! Even the kitchenette items are very dated.

Whilst sitting out on the patio writing this, I am constantly disturbed by children running and screaming on the grass. It is now 8am!

Do not pay for the sea view upgrade of €90 per day as all rooms have a sea view. The upgrade is for those with slightly better views, however you do overlook the pool and have to have the noise and chip smells!!

The rooms at the top area, around 6023 - 6030 back onto the service road. Therefore you get awoken at 7am by delivery trucks, or the hotel buggies delivering towels to the store rooms across this vast complex.

For 4 days now there has been a blow up boat, that someone has left, tied to a light post. None of the staff have removed it, although they have noticed it!

If you have a patio then please check your doors, as after the maid has been in the door is never locked again. Very alarming! Especially with so many chavs staying here!

Luckily I have noise cancelling headphones because in Sunday at 10am the pumping music begins from the club area and carries on the wind across to the prestige part!

If you order room service then there is a surcharge of €6 per order. Thats on top of the very high charges. E.g prestige breakfast - €24.60, continental breakfast - €13.40, fruit salad with sorbet - €11.20, local beer €4.45, brandy - €11.85 with tea and coffee staring at €3.40

Do not bring much baggage with you, as when you arrive there is only one porter and just the odd luggage trolley for you to walk your luggage to reception with. If you need the porter then reception call one. This is approximate a 10-20 min wait.

The hotel adjoins the sister 'club' hotel. This means that you are constantly reminded of children screams, loud music and smells of used cooking oil!

The staff are attentive and friendly, however the damage has been done from the hotel itself.

Do NOT consider this place as a romantic getaway.

Please don't think of this review as the be all and end all with regards to this property, however, if you decide to go then please do not come back to me crying!!
