I should start by saying I'm not sure quite what the hotel is for. It's a business hotel, I think, but there's a shop thrown in for good measure and Nordic-looking dolls modelling clothes on second-floor balconies. That felt a little strange, but to be fair, there's actually nothing wrong with it.
The rooms are big and the views over Pondicherry are nice if you get a window looking over the Tamil part of the city. Spotlessly clean. Bathroom similarly clean. At one point we suffered an ant infestation and we seriously wondered where they were coming from. It transpires it was my rucksack, but the hotel staff cleaned the room quickly (and even did my bag), and there was no waiting around for a tip afterwards- we had to follow the guy after he'd left to give him a tip. Staff throughout the hotel were kind and courteous.
Breakfast selection fairly good, communal spaces clean, very polite doorman. In order to avoid inflated prices, walk a little way down the road before getting a tuk-tuk/taxi- they wait outside the gate and charge a premium.
Only downsides; pool neither here nor there, and cleaning it appeared to be a self-service affair if you wanted to swim. Prices also slightly inflated, though it might be possible to negotiate.
