My husband and I moved to this hotel after a horrifying experience at the Hotel Catalonia Punta Del Rey in Las Caletillas.
What a breath of fresh air. It looks like a tower block and I was anxious as we approached the hotel but inside it is lovely.
We stayed half board and found it to be great. You can swap your evening meal for lunch whenever you want if you say by 8pm on the previous night and you can upgrade to all inclusive for 10€
Food - There is loads of choice: fresh and varied salads with a multitude of dressings, great selection of breads, fish and meat cooked for you to your liking and for people who like home comforts, even HP sauce. The puddings and fresh fruit are lovely and eveything is replenished regularly.
Staff - the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant staff clear your plates as soon as you are finished and the reception staff were very helpful.
Rooms - the rooms are spotless and bright and airy. There is plenty of room too. The only downside is there is no hairdryer, the TV only has British news and our balcony faced the car park. It was very quiet though, the beds are comfortable and there is loads of storage space. If you want to use an iron, fridge or other amenities, it does cost a fair bit though per day.
Pool - the pool is cold but clean and is surrounded by palm trees. There are not so many loungers but there are additional loungers and space at the side of the crazy golf.
We can't comment on the price of drinks as we didn't really drink in the hotel - water at dinner is very expensive though 2.20€ for a small bottle and you don't get a free drink with your lunch or evening meal which we have previously had half board. Also, we didn't watch the evening entertainment but it was the same as usual on offer in the Canaries i.e. snake man, Grease show, dancing etc. there is bingo at 4pm every day and the animation stuff looked good.
It is also only 20 mins on the bus to the airport(number 111 and 1.90€) and you can leave your luggage in the left luggage room at the hotel so it means if you have a late flight, you can spend your last day at the beach which is only a 10 minute walk away.
Los Cristianos is a bit tacky but is quieter than Las Americas, it is mainly older people but we find it to be lively and relaxed at the same time. You cannot beat the weather in Winter and everything is very convenient. The beaches are lovely too - not too packed and the sea is clean. We have never had a bad meal there and if you are short on cash, the 'Menu del dia' is great value.
