We have just got back from a fortnight at Sunny Days. My partner booked this as a relaxing break for me to recover from a shoulder operation. Fat chance! We arrived at 2.am in the morning to a not very welcoming reception. We were given a key and told where our room was. On the way up the two flights of stairs to the room ,we found cocroaches running around. On the positive side the rooms are large and have three beds. They have a nice sized balcony to sit out. The air conditioning was very good. The cleaner had made a lovely display of towels on the bed, but on removing these one of the beds had an old stained sheet on the bed. On going downstairs to see Maria and the cleaner about this, they reckoned they didnt understand and that the sheets were old and I had to accept this. I sprayed the beds with Jungle Formula before I got in. The beds had dirty hankies and cotton earbuds behind them. We quite often had a cockroach as a room mate and marks on the walls where bugs had been previously killed and not cleaned. I bought a bottle of bleach and cleaned everywhere the next day. There are old phones, radios and lights which dont work and are badly fitted. The doors are banging all night and once I had to go out to a woman at 4.45 in the morning who could,nt get her door to lock and insisted on making sure we all knew, by constantly banging the door shut.
Maria (the owner) herself was quite informative about where we should go, but the rest of the reception staff dont speak good English apart from Amy ( who was the most helpfull person there).
The pool steps are unsafe and coming loose. The pool never got cleaned in the time we were there. The sunbeds are made of wood like park benches and are fixed at an angle and not adjustable. The whole place needs a facelift and to come up to present day standards.
As for ammenities the place has a wonderfull supermarket next door called Constantinos. The bus stop is outside and have busses taking you to Kos on the hour. Go to the village of Zia (if you do nothing else), as it is wonderfull. Pretty with fab roof top restaurants where you can watch the sun go down and lovely gift shops. The beaches are great, especially Mamari. The best restaurant is Spyros!
This hotel has the size and potential to be one of the best in the area. I have been to lots of Greek countries and know that most appartments and hotels are basic, but this is the worst I have stayed in. We spent most days at Aspro Spitti (just next door) or down at the Golden Sun Hotel. If I went back this is where I would stay as Yanni is wonderfull.
