We first visited in 2002 and have been giong every year since, except when the hurricane visited them. The staff are superb and can't do enough for you, the food is excellent with a large choice. The only down side is that since the hurricane the beach is now much smaller and has hard lumps of coral in it. We find that reserving a sun bed on the beach is a good investment and has prevented selfish people from putting their things on a bed and never appearing. The jacuzzi bar is great fun, although the water can sometimes feel too hot, but having said that it is a great place to meet people. The entertainment in the evenings is good and if you like people watching the parade of guests giong to the disco in their themed dress is well worth seeing. You do need some strong bug repellant even though they do spray during the late afternoon they still come out for a meal after dark. The 11 hour flight for us to get to Desire is a price worth paying and well worth the cost of paying for an upgrade

August 21 to 28 Passion Suite..The staff at Desire are amazing. We have been their several times and each time I amazed at how I get treated. We had a passion suite which comes with some perks. Our favourite time is late in the afternoon sitting at the edge of the Caribbean watching the waves, the pelicans the fish, the cruise ships...enjoying the tropical breeze while dancing naked on the beach. One of the perks is free champagne each night in our room. The staff know we don’t drink champagne so unrequested instead of going to our room they show up on the beach with two buckets of ice, two bottles of wine and 6 beer! The sun sets, it gets dark we return to our room. 5 minutes later a knock on the door..my wife forgot her sunglasses on the beach bed and they were returning them to us. Now that is Royal treatment. Could have thrown them in the lost and found but no instead they took the time to bring them to our room.

As for the rest of the night...you will have to go to Desire to find out. Swingers and non swingers have the time of their life. The nicest room I have ever stayed in.. no, the best food.. no, the best drinks no...but all are acceptable in the upper echelon of all inclusive and combined with the best service you will ever get you will have a romantic experience like you have never had before. Just don’t tell the kids you were there.

Room Tip: We love the Passion Suite, the balcony overlooking the sea is incredible.

My husband and I vowed to write about our experience at Desire Resort in Cancun. First of all prior to our trip we researched and read hundreds of write ups and some of the information we read was critical to enjoying our trip to the fullest extent. We were new and curious to the lifestyle orientated resorts and clubs. This was our first one. We did not know what to expect, but wanted to make the best choice (it's not like we can go every week). Also with our lack of experience, we wanted to make sure that we would be comfortable. We weren't quite sure just "what" might be going on! First of all overall our time there was DEVINE overall, however we paid more attention to the write ups that did critique some flaws, being fearful that the perfect write ups were not true so here goes....

We arrived and had purchased airport transfers. Our driver was there with a sign for our names. We went straight to the resort which was only about 15 minutes away. As we arrived our luggage was plucked from our hands and we were told not to worry about it. As we are signing in and getting information about the restaurants and what not, someone appeared from no where with a fresh glass of champagne. We were then taken to our room...IMPORTANT, we read prior from another guest's write up to try to get an upstairs room if you have opted for a "beach front", this was great information. We had a lovely balcony and privacy. There are only 4 rooms upstairs so you are shielded from the noise of people passing by to the beach and the beach beds don't block your view. Also I would suggest looking up the map of the hotel and choosing a building closest to your preferences. We aren't really pool people so we chose a building away from that area. Another thing, they don't reserve specific rooms and the check in time is 3 so if you are able to structure your flight to arriving around that time you have a better chance of picking your room. Rooms were adequate, I don't care about decor so much as I wish that the bed was better quality. The room had a decent shower. Note: The C on faucets in Mexico is Caliente, not cold.

Be prepared, there are naked people. We were a little taken back to see naked people just sitting and having a conversation. In fact, we had resolved that even though we are OK with naked people, we most likely would not be brave enough to partake.....so much for that. The Jacuzzi bar opens in the afternoon so we grabbed a drink and went to check it out. I was topless and hubby was nude within 30 minutes of arriving. In the afternoons there are alot of people in the Jacuzzi and it gets pretty crowded from there on out, but the breeze is really nice there and there are nice lounge chairs and the beds, which are really cool if you feel the tub is too full.

Everyone we met was extremely nice and really close, great couples. No one has any problems making friends. The couples are not being nice or suggestive about "getting together". It's just the spirit of the place. There is a huge range of body styles which makes it really easy to let go of your inhibitions about being nude. There is a range of ages there from a few young (maybe mid twentys to early 30's) but most being in the late 30's to 50's (hard to say exactly what the ages are). Ironically being nude made me feel more confident about the flaws I felt I had with my body. As a rule, no one is staring at you or making you feel uncomfortable. The Jacuzzi is wild but not shockingly wild and really sets the erotic atmosphere. There are a range of lifestyle types with the majority being really stable, loving, secure couples. You hardly ever saw a couple that was apart from each other. We choose Desire because it is strictly couples only, I believe that is important, or at least it was for the purpose we chose to be there. Note: if you are not used to having unlimited drinks and it being OK to start having drinks early afternoon...pace yourself....

Another guest had written that they were disappointed that people were tipping when tipping was supposed to be included. I believe the resort had corrected that because there was no tipping, nor did an employee act as if they expected it.

Another guest wrote that the drinks were weak and alcohol was poor quality. That has also been corrected. I will note that in Mexico Bacardi is cheap so if you are ordering a rum drink, or scotch, it is poured pretty freely. Again, beware!

We went back to our room and got dressed for dinner. As we walked out, guests in the neighboring room asked us to join them and it was really nice to get to meet people over dinner (we don't get that a lot in our life). People are extremely nice and fun and outgoing there, without ever making you feel you are being hit on. I believe that most of the couples are not just ready to jump in bed with any and everybody, and they would want to talk and get to know you first.

Food: The food is really not that good. It's nice having the restaurants, everyone dresses for dinner and the service is great. We liked Suku best and after the first night ate there every evening. For breakfast I suggest paying the 5 room service fee and having it brought to you to order, otherwise breakfast is that kind of strange buffet. We did take another guest's advice and brought a bottle for our room (they are expensive at the resort) for when we just wanted to have a drink without venturing to the bar. We bought bug spray but did not have any problems with mosquitoes, I'd bring some just in case. We brought a flashlight which was helpful if you want to go to the beach at night. Next time we are bringing some snacks to munch on in the room.

The gift shop has some sexy clothing and what nots that are worthy of checking out.

Staff was great as a whole. We did have an issue one late evening when we felt uncomfortable with a night security agent. We told the resort and did not see him again during our stay.

Pay attention to the theme nights if you want to participate. I did not one night and it was lingerie night, most of the women wore it to the disco that evening, I had brought a ton of it and did not know that that was the theme for the evening.

We never found the couples room? I don't know if they eliminated it. We forgot to ask, we had just searched for it to check it out.

If you are new like us, I would suggest booking during a slower time and not when a seasoned swinging club/group is there. There were a few of those types there and it wasn't our cup of tea, but again, no one was pushy to us or made us feel we had to be a part of any group. We didn't swing on this trip, I think that we were waiting for some one to approach us and then see what we wanted to do, but no one will do that there. Like I said, it's not a bunch of sex crazed perverts and most likely they want to talk and get to know you before anything like that happens. We did not go with that expectation, we were just open to the possibility.

All and all we accomplished what we hoped. We had a totally erotic, romantic, relaxing time together and are definitely closer than ever. With exceptions to the beds and food, the resort lived up to everything it promised and then some. In fact, I tend to overlook those two flaws because everything else was so wonderful. We are definitely going back. Next time we are probably going to go with the less expensive room so we can justify going more often.

Room Tip: Choose upstairs rooms for beach view.

“Another wonderful and fun vacation at Desire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We have just returned from another wonderful vacation at Desire, our 3rd one in a year and this time we extended our stay to 8 nights. Once again everything at this adult resort was fantastic - the service and friendly staff, the food, the room and all the nightly activities were first class.

We were able to rent a bed on the beach for the whole time once again for only $100 extra and it's so worthwhile. Relax during the day and party at night, which was ideal for us because this time at the resort they had two groups attending which made the pool a little noisy as the day went on. With that being said it did not distrupt our vacation one little bit and everybody was friendly and interactive. In fact we enjoyed an hour or two each day having lunch in the poolside cafe and watching all the activities.

The rooftop hot tub area was always buzzing and around 4:30 pm it started to fill up and at times it was hard to find a spot to squeeze in to but a very friendly place to be to meet new people before dinner and before the evening activities began. If nudity and "other activities" are not your thing then this is not the place for you, whether it be late afternoon or late at night.

Nightly themes were still the same, leather night, school girl, white and sexy etc which was fun but the entertainment we thought had improved with great dancers, music and better shows. The disco was OK but the sound track has to change, it felt like the same songs were being played everynight so we gave it a miss a few nights.

On this visit we were given a much bigger room on the second floor with a king size bed in the garden area, away from the hub of the lobby bar and disco area, making it very quiet once we retired. Paying the extra for an oceanview room is not needed at this resort in our opinion. The room was kept spotless and the service when we needed something was very fast - for example our safe was not working correctly so we called the front desk and after two minutes of putting the phone down we had a knock on the door and it was fixed in seconds.

The restaurants were awesome, menus had changed which was nice and the service we received we could relate to a 5 star restaurant anywhere. Dress code is still a priority at the International and Sushi restaurants, pants and shirts for men and sexy dresses for the women which makes it a very special evening.

Yes this is a clothing optional adult resort and of course a lot of fun but we were pleased to see certain rules being enforced, such as dress codes, no smoking areas, no singles allowed and any form or display of sex was not permitted in public areas, such as the main pool and beach. This we believe gives Desire that extra bit of class.

Now we have to figure out when we can go back.

We stayed at Desire in late March 2011-our 4th year in a row. Rooms-clean,service was great. Food-excellent, not only at the buffet(loved the breakfast omelettes and french toast) but also the poolside buffet. Sylvia was always very attentive poolside, very friendly and accomodating. She could even remember what we ordered previously, even though she was waiting on many people. Activities/games-the staff works hard to keep everyone entertained. I attended the workout in the gazebo this year-used muscles I hadnt used in awhile. Most everyone is friendly, whether they are in the lifestyle or not. As others have said, everyone is so friendly. If we could go back several times a year we would do so. We went 4 nights the lst year not knowing what to expect, and now we are up to 7 nights. We will be going back in December 2011, our 2nd time this year. BTW, the disco and playroom have been remodeled since we lst went in 2007 and it is wonderful. It is like heaven on earth according to my better half. When people ask her if she liked the resort her response is "I would buy it and move there if I could!!" Is a great way to rekindle the love spark. Very sexual atmosphere. Love it!
