“A wonderful family escape...”

My wife and I along with our two daughters aged 6 and 4 stayed here for 9 nights from 27th January. I have to admit I did read alot of the reviews listed here and I had a few second thoughts about making a booking. However we are so glad that we did!
Turtle beach is a fantastic place to stay as a couple and even more so if you are looking for a affordable yet brilliant location for a family getaway.
We had a two bedroom apartment on the top floor(only 3 levels) and overlooking the adults and main pool areas. It was my request for the top floor and I was advised when booking directly with the resort by their staff about the stairs, but I booked it anyway. In hindsight, next time we stay I will ask for a second or ground floor unit due to the stairs and being up and down them many times a day, but the choice was mine and in no way do I blame the resort for this.
Our room was great, modern furnishings with lots of room and it had everything we needed. Queen bed in the main, two singles in the second bedroom all with built in robes. There were two batrooms, ensuite off the main and also a seperate toilet too. Having a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher was great and the washing machine and dryer came in handy also. The air conditioner worked great and kept us very cool.
The facilities were excellent and very neatly maintained. Staff were always courteous to us and showed a genuine willingness to help.
We ate at the woodfire pizzeria twice during our stay as they make fantastic tasting pizzas that are generous in size, reasonably priced and they have nice cold beer and wine too!
We visited the Rainforest Cafe a few times for great coffee and a few milkshakes for the kids in a very tranquil setting. Sadly we did not have a meal here, but both the breakfast and dinner menu's looked good and again the price's were right.
The main pool area was quite large with 3 pools to choose from.(Main pool with heated spa, smaller lagoon pool and the kids play pool). The pools were always clean. The seperate adults only pool is a great touch and the lap pool is good for those wanting to keep up the excercise or just have a lazy and relaxing day in the sunbeds. There is another smaller pool at the front of the resort and another childrens playground also.
We did take advantage of 'Club Turtle" kids club during our stay. Sessions run for 3hours(3 times a day) and cost $25 per child. Our kids had a great time doing arts and craft, playing games, dancing and xbox play etc and they enjoyed it so much that they wanted to return, so we booked them in for a night session(5pm-8pm) and for a small fee they had dinner there as well. The kids club staff were very nice and caring towards the kids and again showed a genuine interest in entertaining the children and ensuring they had plenty of fun things to do. The kids club area was well appointed and the safety measures were all great. As a parent you left the children in a safe environment and felt comfortable in doing so.
Sadly we did not get to use the movie cinema nor the tennis courts as we were pretty busy doing the mandatory theme parks etc, but plenty of people that we spoke with had used these facilities several times during their stay at a small cost(for tennis) and were full of praise. The mini-golf course that snakes it's away around the resort was lots of fun and a thrill for the kids.
We did visit the on site convenince store for a couple of essentials, but with it being handy does come a slightly higher price. But all in all it was great having it there for those things that you forget to buy at the grocery store.
The location of the resort was another great point for us. It is away from the nosiy hussle and bussle of Surfers Paradise, yet so close to it and all of the attractions. We had a hire car and from the driveway of the resort it only took us about 8mins to get into Cavill Ave. There is plenty of transport available around the resort with a bus stop right outside the door. We witnessed the resort staff arranging transport for other guests all the time and it never seemed a problem for them in doing so.
Across the road there are a few shops including another convenience store, some food outlets and a bottleshop. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well.
We definatley recommend staying at Turtle Beach for all of these great reasons. We really did have a fantastic time here and were sad we had to leave and return to reality.
It is a great place to spend your family vacation. There is loads to keep the kids occupied and even a few 'chill-out' zones for the adults. We have no doubt that we will return here again next time we come to the Gold Coast.
I do suggest that you keep an open mind when going through some of the reviews on here, as it is our opinion that choosing this resort will definatley pay off for and your family after you arrive and spend some time at Turtle Beach.

Room Tip: Middle or Ground floor rooms due to stairs..

The resort has so many facilities such as swimming pools for both kids and adult. We love adult pool so much. The Woodfire pizza was so yummy!! (chicken satay and prawn). Even though the resort is 5 minutes walk to the beach but there are take away shops close by.
We'll definitely come back and stay longer^_^

Room Tip: Choose down stair room if possible. No escalator mate!!

“NEVER AGAIN RACIST PEOPLE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

My family and I booked at turtle beach resort through Blu sky. We are a big family and we did inform them that were loud and that we are Lebanese muslim and that there are alot of children including infants.
Upon arrival at the resort most of the rooms were not clean. Mind you we booked 9 rooms and half of us were at the resort and we booked in the middle of the year and we didnt arrange the for us to arrive till the end of january so they had a complete 7 months for the rooms to be organized. The resort is no good for people that have a lot of luggage because of the trips up and down stairs my room was at the end of the resort and had to travel through 3 flights of stairs going down then going up and down again just to arrive to my room and I have 2 kids under the age of 2 with 5 heavy luggage bags and sharing with my mum and sister with more bags for them selves. Upon arrival we ordered prams for the family and the company droppeed it off at the front and left. One of the staff came to us angrily and said they had to be removed at once by the way there was 15 prams most double prams I was told to move them immedity. I then informed the lady that most of the family that ordered the prams have not arrived yet, I still dont have keys to get through any of the entrances and that my aunty who organized all this is off preparing other things. The lady didn't even offer to keep the door open and help me carry all the prams through and the whole time she was being very rude. The rooms it self didnt accomadate our needs they were small not enough cupboard space, not enough room space the floors were filthy and it was so hard finding our room everytime we left. Also after our third day of torrential rain they decided to kick us out after a few complaints even though we had a meeting with the Blu sky owners and said if u follow the rules u won't be kicked out and we made sure we kept the rules but from day one the staff were accussing our family of alot of things we didnt do. I can't say that we werent loud but there's tennage boys infant and were a big family what do u expect but to the extent that they said we were we weren't. We went to diamond sand resort a couple of years earlier and we were louder and not 1 compaint had happened. The staff were terrible very racist, the room alocations were bad and it was a lot of false advertising don't believe what u see online cause it's not like that. If u want a family orientaed holiday book some were else don't go there

This post is one of a series from a group (around 40 persons) who stayed with us recently. The group booked through an outside agency “Blue Sky Holidays’ therefore I cannot comment on any aspect of their accommodations or apartments.
We were involved in the eviction of this group after multiple complaints, security risks to other guests, foul language in public areas and ignoring general rules that apply to everyone.
Our on-site security of seven years deemed their actions to be threatening.
Given the swearing and shouting there were no communication barriers and after the last warning and conciliation meeting with the group, we were forced to either call the Police to have the group evicted or advise them our concerns and ask them to leave.
The group did leave and I am informed they received a refund.
This had nothing to do with race or religion and the fact this person includes this within their post is inflammatory and grasping at a reason for their eviction.

“Good family resort...”

We were staying here at the same time as the Lebanese family below... And I must say we were pretty happy when they were kicked out.
How is it acceptable to let your children scream, shout and generally run riot whilst everyone else is trying to put their children to sleep.
We were staying near the Adults Only pool and a couple of times witnessed these unruly teenagers doing backflips off the wall into the pool, whilst an elderly lady tried to swim laps!
Good on you Turtle Beach staff for having the guts to evict them, thus making everyone else's holiday much more pleasant!
We had no problems with the staff at the resort.... And our room was spotlessly clean. Please don't be put off by the below review.. Trust me they deserved to be kicked out!

“Great resort for families with kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My daughter aged 12 and myself stayed at this resort in a one bedroom apartment for 6 nights and we found it to be very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The only negative thing I found was there wasn't any cleaning items eg dustpan, cleaning sponges etc and I found the convenience store a bit pricey. The staff were very helpful and friendly and my daughter enjoyed club turtle. The shuttle bus services to the theme parks were excellent if you have a freedom pass as you can get on the local bus service to Pacific Fair shopping centre which is the place to go if you love shopping at reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and sunny.
