Family stayed here over Christmas break for 5 nights. I was drawn to this Starwood property from the images on the website - they looked very inviting. But on personal view, images can be somewhat deceptive... The resort was clearly run-down (tired and worn-out) but that is made apparent in the website notes, so I was aware of it - but it took the glamour out from our stay.
The pool(s) look very ordinary (blue painted bottom is passe...); the general beach frontage was nothing impressive - I've seen a lot better - this property has a 1980s reminiscence to it, nothing quaint or rustic or romantic.
As a Starwood Platinum member, I also expected something better - on prior notice to the resort, I requested that a renovated room was priority. That was given, but it had a partial sea view, mediocre sized - except for the 'newness', nothing to brag about, considering that the room was priced at rack-rate of $500/night for the season (but I used SPG points). It was definitely not worth the price tag. Furthermore, no breakfast privileges, and I baulked at the $40+ price tag, except on Christmas morning. Come Chritmas day, what we saw in the restaurant was reminscent of a food factory churning out huge volues of food, replinishing emptying trays/dishes, and queues getting longer as a large number of morbidly obese people walked by stuffing their plates... a truly awful sight. I felt sorry for the staff who seemed to be called around for attention from almost every corner. Gordon Ramsey would have just freaked out at the sight....
Room service was a bit of a shocker - there is an $8 service charge for room service. So if you just want a $20 sandwich, that and addition $8++...
Staff and attention were acceptable, 'Australian standard'...

Dear TripAdvisor Contributor, on behalf of Mark Sexton, who is currently away from the resort, I thank you for staying here at Sheraton Mirage over Christmas with your family, and for taking the time to post a review. We appreciate your feedback but were naturally all disappointed to know our resort did not meet your expectations, and for this we apologise most sincerely. Our goal here at Sheraton Mirage is to exceed guest and patron expectations, so if you could spare the time to make contact with me on peter.elakis@sheraton.com to elaborate on your feedback, this further information would assist us greatly, particularly in relation to our staff and attention as you clearly did not experience our usual high level of warm, friendly and personal service. Thank you again for your gift of feedback. Warm regards, Peter Elakis (Food & Beverage Manager)
