“Good For Family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2006

We were there from 17 to 25 Nov 2006. Yes it is a nice place to stay especially with kids. We were in a 2 bedroom villa. The master bedroom has a jacuzzi bath in it. Both shower have high water pressure and continue supply of warm/hot water even if many people use it simultaneously. Two single in the other room and a sofa bed in the living. TV is small and lighting is a bit dimn in the kitchen. Kitchen utensil are enough for western or Chinese cooking. Central air-conditioning.Garage entry is very narrow for an MPV. Washing mechine and dryer is in the garage have to share with you neighbour. Swimming indoor or outdoor pool is OK, children playground facility is rare however.
Must have a car if you stay here about 15 mins to Surfer Paradise.

“The Peace and Quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2006

As a 7 month pregnant woman along with my husband and our 2 year old -the Royal Woods Resort was a very pleasant stay for us. It definitely was as close to home in terms of comfort levels than any other place we have stayed at in 7 years of holidays.

It is extremely well landscaped and maintained, not a spot of rubbish or tired furnishings. It is very peaceful and quiet in location and outlook - if you have had a bad experience with holidaymakers noise, or schoolies week - then take a respite from the noise and drama of Surfers and stay at this place in Ashmore.

It is within easy driving distance to everything you need to access in Surfers anyway.

The outdoor heated spa was a favourite for us and the outdoor pool was also great - it has a little waterfall too. The interiors and exteriors of the villa units are very well kept - no rubbish or signs of wear and tear - with the luxury of space, nice furnishings, spacious bathroom, balcony - well kept pool area, games room and for your little toddler - a play room where you can use toys, a blackboard and make some noise.

The only thing I can think of that could be improved is some heating to the outdoor pool which is quite cool, and also an outdoor play swing area for toddlers - but really - these villas have alot more to offer than the usual accommodation in Surfers or Gold Coast. Great to have a remote control garage too! The type of people that stayed there were civilised and not snobbish - a good mix.

And the peace and quiet guarantees a great night's sleep every night you stay there. We would consider staying there again - very comfortable.

  • Liked — Peace, quiet, facilities and proximity
  • Disliked — Possibly need more play equipment for toddlers
  • Tips/Secrets — If you are looking for a great night's sleep on your holidays - book this one.

“Great place to stay!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2006

My husband and I recently stayed at the Royal Woods Resort, in a one bedroom villa, for 4 nights. It was absolutely fabulous. The villa was huge for the 2 of us, extremely clean and well maintained. We had a huge carport to ourselves (the laundry is in the carport.) We were so comfortable there, it felt like home. It was great location wise for what we were wanting to do on the Gold Coast. You would definitely need a car if you are planning on staying there as it is about a 15 minute drive into Cavill Avenue, Surfers. (The local shops are about a 5 minute drive away.)

The staff were really friendly, and the pool area was absolutely lovely. It was so quiet at times that we thought we were the only ones there!

The shower was fantastic there! And they had soap for guests. The room was serviced every day, (except for dishes, which is fine!), but new towels and bed made every day.

All in all we had a great time and would definitely stay at the Royal Woods again!

Thank you!!

  • Disliked — Climbing the stairs to the front door!
  • Tips/Secrets — Make sure you've hired a car if staying here!

“Beautiful Outlook”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2006

Royal Woods has a lovely outlook with no high rise in site! It was great to be able to sit and drink our coffee in the morning out on the balcony looking at the beautiful bushland with the sound of birds all around us.
The villas are spacious and very comfortable, and the pool area is also a big plus.
On the downside, you really can't stay here without renting a car as it is a while away from bus routes, and I wouldn't recommend the airport shuttle bus service to get here as the drop off point is no where near the entrance. The air condition could work better and little things like supplying guest soap could have made it a better experience.

“An alternative choice in Gold Coast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2005

A self-contained villa style apartment in a beautiful suburb area will provide some quiet time for holiday makers after a long day at Surfers Paradise or various theme parks nearby. The staff are very friendly and the outdoor and indoor pools are very nice. It should be a rather good alternative accommodation choice but the lack of dining facilities on site and the insufficient sound proof facilties from the neigbour villa should be remedied.
