“Peaceful, but ......”

Stayed in a one bedroom suite. Decent size, reasonably well equiped. Had a washer, drier, but no dishwasher. The cooking facilities weren't great, 2 ring hob, very small oven, microwave, so if you a planning on eating meals at your suite might not be ideal. As you would expect had aircon.

The villa was divided into 2 one bedroom suite, connected by a hallway. Whilst we were there no-one was in the adjoining suite, but i was concerned that the noise would be easily audible, so was very relieved.

This is a gated compex about 9kms outside of Surfers Paradise. So felt very safe, but was a trek to the beaches, main area. There are a couple of small shopping centres close by for groceries, restaurants a bit further away.

Pool was very nice, great for families. There were a couple of gas BBQs in the pool area for use.

Reception staff were great - we arrived earlier than we expected, fortunately our Villa was already cleaned, so they showed us straight in.

Make sure you have a good set of directions before you set out - this place is tucked away, off the main road and maybe hard to find if you haven't planned it well (or have a GPS).

“Amazing Experience”

We were there for the Eurofest at Surfers & Fright night at Movieworld so we decided in the last minute to make a book at this resort since all the other hotels & apartments was all occupied.

When we got there the villas look nice & quiet. We got into the reception & the receptionist was very friendly & polite. She walked us to our villa that we're staying for the night. We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite instead of the one bedroom due to all one bedroom suites were all taken.

Warning to all, even if you were upgraded it doesn't mean you can use the other spare room unless you pay an extra $120 a night! So we had the doors closed throughout our stay. Room was very clean & furniture was in great standard comfort of home.

Our dislike about this room was tv was extremely small in the living room. Had a look at the gaming room & the gym but gym was so tiny.

Yes, you do need a car to stay here. It takes roughly about 7 - 10mins to Surfers & all the beach location & shopping.

We would like to stay here again.

“Yilkes!!!!”

Upon arriving and being shown to a House which has been converted into two "villa's" by putting a bedroom door halfway through the house, there was no way I was going to stay there.

The screaming of two kids in the other half of the house while the check-in lady was showing us the "villa" was embarrassing for her and mildly amusing for me as she went round the back of the house to tell the family in the other half that there was now guests in the front of the house...

Needless to say, we decided not to stay the night.

Refund promised and delivered back to credit card without much hassle.

“Good For Family”

We were there from 17 to 25 Nov 2006. Yes it is a nice place to stay especially with kids. We were in a 2 bedroom villa. The master bedroom has a jacuzzi bath in it. Both shower have high water pressure and continue supply of warm/hot water even if many people use it simultaneously. Two single in the other room and a sofa bed in the living. TV is small and lighting is a bit dimn in the kitchen. Kitchen utensil are enough for western or Chinese cooking. Central air-conditioning.Garage entry is very narrow for an MPV. Washing mechine and dryer is in the garage have to share with you neighbour. Swimming indoor or outdoor pool is OK, children playground facility is rare however.
Must have a car if you stay here about 15 mins to Surfer Paradise.

“The Peace and Quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2006

As a 7 month pregnant woman along with my husband and our 2 year old -the Royal Woods Resort was a very pleasant stay for us. It definitely was as close to home in terms of comfort levels than any other place we have stayed at in 7 years of holidays.

It is extremely well landscaped and maintained, not a spot of rubbish or tired furnishings. It is very peaceful and quiet in location and outlook - if you have had a bad experience with holidaymakers noise, or schoolies week - then take a respite from the noise and drama of Surfers and stay at this place in Ashmore.

It is within easy driving distance to everything you need to access in Surfers anyway.

The outdoor heated spa was a favourite for us and the outdoor pool was also great - it has a little waterfall too. The interiors and exteriors of the villa units are very well kept - no rubbish or signs of wear and tear - with the luxury of space, nice furnishings, spacious bathroom, balcony - well kept pool area, games room and for your little toddler - a play room where you can use toys, a blackboard and make some noise.

The only thing I can think of that could be improved is some heating to the outdoor pool which is quite cool, and also an outdoor play swing area for toddlers - but really - these villas have alot more to offer than the usual accommodation in Surfers or Gold Coast. Great to have a remote control garage too! The type of people that stayed there were civilised and not snobbish - a good mix.

And the peace and quiet guarantees a great night's sleep every night you stay there. We would consider staying there again - very comfortable.

  • Liked — Peace, quiet, facilities and proximity
  • Disliked — Possibly need more play equipment for toddlers
  • Tips/Secrets — If you are looking for a great night's sleep on your holidays - book this one.
