We have just returned from our short vacation in Zakyntos, Laganas. Castelli hotel was just as expected and as described here by previous guests. Spiros and his family were the most pleasant hosts and the hotel stuff behaved fantastic. Everything is very clean, everyone there is very helpfull and do their best for you to feel at home. And so we did. I don't imagine having a more excuisite vacation in Greece, in a hotel in this class but there. We received great advises from Spiros regarding what and how and when to visit and explore. We staid in room 01 at the ground floor. The room was very clean, nicely decorated and the furniture looked great and is all you need for a vacation. The rooms felt a little bit humid but i assumed this is because of the weather and positioning of the room. In the future, i would go for a room at a superior floor. They have a nice bar, pool bar, terrace and a lot of relaxation corners. The pool is small but enough and it is also extremely clean. We had never experienced such a welcoming place and people...i fully recomend this hotel to any type of vacation, if you are young or old, there for fun or relaxation. We will definitelly go back next year.

Dear guests, first of all thank you for choosing Castelli for your holidays, and taking the time to upload your experience on Tripadvisor.

Thank you so much for your kind words, we are overwhelmed! It is sincerely important to us knowing that our valuable guests have actually thoroughly enjoyed their stay with us!

“Cleanliness, service, politeness, relaxation corners, if you’re young or old, a home-from-home”.. Thank you!
Having such nice guests is what makes Castelli atmosphere unique… so we really hope we’ll have the pleasure of hosting you at Castelli many times in the future!

During your stay in September 2012 we had soooo heavy rain, and humid weather, I think everyone will remember this unexpected weather for a long period; the previous time we had that weather on the island was in January, and still everyone was amazed at the amount of water and the wet feeling yet! This weather does explain the humidity feeling you sensed, which we felt in all floors, inside and outside the building these 2-3 days... and we do sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Having chosen to come back for your precious holidays at Castelli is a true reward for us!
Thank you for this honour! See you next year and thank you once again!!!! “Efcharistoume”!

The Castelli Hotel has the friendliest Management and staff that we have ever met. Nothing is too much trouble.
I forgot my heat mat for my straighteners, and not wanting to burn anything I asked at reception. They advised that they don't really have heat mats in Zante, but the next day, Spirios, the manager gave us a ceramic tile to use!
The hotel is very clean, the rooms are typically Greek, basic but clean and more than comfortable enough for us to sleep and change in.
The breakfast is continental, but far more choice than is usually offered in Greece. If you oversleep you can get breakfast at the snack bar by the pool.
Always plenty of room by the pool and although the sun beds are comfortable, reception will supply you with extra mattresses.
Snacks are available at the pool bar from 9.30am to 7pm. The bar is reasonably priced and so are the snacks.
If you are having a drink before you go out for dinner or on your return, Gabbie will serve you with a winning smile and try to fatten you up with her complimentary snacks.
We booked through Thomsons and they advised no children under the age of 16 although there were one or two there while we were there.
Thomsons also advise there is a 2am curfew, but this is not the case as there is a night porter there who will let you in.
If you fancy fast food or very lively night life Laganas is just ten minutes walk away. Otherwise there are plenty of good Tavernas for a chilled out evening meal.
We did not like the Pizza place opposite the hotel, very poor service although I believe they will deliver if you want spend your evening in the hotel.
We liked Scloubous, Bougainvillea and El Greco. All within walking distance, however Spirios will arrange transport if required. Blue Sea, down by the beach is also good, they will cater for both small and large appetites.
The best beach is to the right when you get to the sea front. There are sun beds, some you pay for and some you just need to buy food and drink and then they are free. We liked Oasis Beach Bar, as the beds were free and Alex the bar waiter provided an excellent service.
We had a very good holiday at the Castelli and would certainly stay there again if we went back to Zante.

Room tip: Cooler rooms are downstairs overlooking the pool. If you want to know anything ASK Spiriois!

Dear guests, thank you for choosing Castelli for your precious holidays, and taking the time to share your nice experience with the Tripadvisor community!
Thank you for your kind words! You know we mean it when we say that your point of view is sincerely important to our team!!

We are extremely proud of your title “Service with a smile”, that covers our team’s goal.. Thank you!

Just after your first visit, and I think you made out two extremely valid points of the Castelli… one is the qualities of the ground floor guestrooms, and the other one is “if you want to know anything, please do ask us”. We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!

Thank you so much-“ efcharistoume”! For taking the time to upload your review, and evenmore for being such great guests!
We promise to try the best to become better, and we’re looking forward to having you with us soon again!

We are a couple early seventies, spent seven days at the Castelli from 31st August via Birminghan with Thomson. Not a lot really to add to the previous positive posters who are spot on. The Hotel really lived up to its reputation in every way. Very clean, Very quite. We had room 118 at end of corridor on 1st floor which was nice because it was on the sheltered side from the afternoon sun. Room was adequate size for us but I guess the bathroom could be described as bijou. Room service was fine but we were a bit surprised that the toilet bin was not emptied on the Sunday. We had the fridge from day one and after 2 days did succumb to the aircon! We had no problem with paying extra for these as you had the option to do so or not. Breakfast was absolutely adequate and we loved the fresh bread and homemade marmalade etc. We only spent one day by the pool. This is because just down the road and to the right is a super sandy shallow beach where you can walk out in lovely warm water from the sunbeds of Sabbia beach bar (Orange sunbeds and whiite parasols) where for the price of a couple of drinks you can spend a relaxing day just watching the turtle trip boats come and go from the marina all against the backdrop of Laganas bay.
The hotel do a wonderful BBQ on Saturday. The 1.00pm start was a bit early to eat for us but in the end we enjoyed the event thoroughly don't miss it.
There are nice tavernas all around but you may have to walk a fair way to get to some of these. Our tip is to take a good torch because there are no pavements and walking towards any traffic after dark is far safer if you have a flashlight to warn other roadusers where you are!
The flashiest taverna must be Ole Ole a good walk away but worth it, Scloubou's is a bit closer you walk past it to get the Ole. Greek night here is Wednesday 9pm but get there for 8.30, Akropolis is also nice and is back of Laganas but just follow the signs. Pieros is just at bottom of the road and pretty close, opposite up some steps is a cocktail bar which sadly we did not make but were told of the great night views of the bay. Our favorite though was El Greco just up the road and left the kalamari is to die for. Some tavernas will send a car for you but we preffered to make our own way then were not obliged if we decided to eat elsewhere.
The very hardworking owner Spiros, Mrs Spiros and daughter Maria could not do enough for us and all the other staff were wonderful as well throughout our stay. As it was our Golden Wedding on the Saturday they were kindness itself in ensuring that we had a memorable day. Will we go back? of course.

Room tip: Even room number are on shady side of hotel

This is our 2nd visit to the Castelli, something in all our years of travelling that we haven't done before, revisited a hotel. On arrival we were given a warm greeting by Spiros, Anastasia, and Maria. Spiros will have a short chat with you about the hotel, your room, breakfast times etc. Rooms are comfortable but basic, but more importantly clean. There is an extra charge for air con, fridge, and safe, but this is pretty standard practice these days. Breakfast is cotinental type, cereal's, breads, cheese, ham etc, omelettes, home made jam, marmalade & cake & greek yogurt plus tea coffee juice etc. Eat indoors, or on sunny mornings on the roof terrace overlooking the pool. The pool & surrounding areas are immaculate, and there is a bar here that serves drinks & tasty snacks during the day. This is also where the weekly barbecue is held, and cooked to perfection by Spiros, and the food just keeps on arriving. There is also a well stocked bar in the hotel which is run by the lovely Gabby. The beach is a pleasant five minute stroll away, as are the nearest tavernas right on the beach. Head in the opposite direction to Agios Sostis, and more fabulous tavernas. Ask Maria or Spiros about places to visit, and they will tell you the best one's, authentic Greek one's, and one's popular with their guests. This is a Thomson small & friendly hotel, and with many guests visiting year on year, I think that's a perfect billing for the Castelli. See you all again next year.

We agree with all the very positive write ups on Castelli Hotel. Spiros also recommended some very good day trips and places to see.
In summary, if you are looking for a nice, quiet, affordable holiday with good swimming and lovely authentic Greek tavernas close by then Castelli and Agios Sostis will be a very safe bet.
Thank you all Castelli team for a lovely holiday !

Tip : The local buses are very good for day trips to Porto Roma, Kerri Beach and Alykes.
