“Absoultely fine!”

Dont listen to all the moans and groans, hotel very clean, good location, weather good- stayed 1st week feb- bit colder at night, food drink fine, maybe like to see better area indoors for drinks at night. You get what you pay for, dont be put off by typical people who like to moan.

“Do not go All Inclusive!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Just got back from a grily few day and although we have a brilliant time i would just like to tell everyone DO NOT go All Inclusive. Food is basically slop or fried with no taste at all. Salad was OK but people near us had to point out that the cucumber had seen better days and the tomato's fankly looked a scary green/yellow colour. Apart from the TERRIBLE food the beer was cold and always on tap and the bar was well kept with local produced drinks.

Cay Beach really could benefit from some entertainment that starts before 10pm, this place attracts a big mix of people from the retired, families to girls trips away and not once did i feel like there was any atomosphere in the bar.

Putting the hotel aside this place is fantastic, beech is lovely and has alots of cheap returants located a few minsutes walk from the hotel.

Would i go again?? Ermmm definatly but either in a different hotel or self catering and withouth the airport coach transfer (took us over an hour on the return journey to go less then 5 miles) take a taxi.

“The perfect holiday accomodation”

Myself and my girlfriend just spent a week there and had a great time.

The apartments are tidy, air conditioned and have a great decking area. Cleaners came every second day and left the place spotless.

The pool is a good size and there are lots of beds. We were always able to find somewhere, which may have had something to do with the season, but still, it was great.

The location is excellent, just a five minute walk from the beach and from the restaurants.

Overall, one of the best accomodations I have ever stayed in on a sun holiday.

Room Tip: Maybe choose the double bed option instead of the twin rooms with air con as the villa's have bl...

“mixed review:-”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

GOOD POINTS:- The complex is very well situated being close to all shops, beach, restaurants and entertainment. The bungalows are exceptionally cleaned and though only cleaned once during our stay from 28th january to 4th february that is addequate for me as they are easy to keep clean. The bedding was also changed once and at this time of year that is fine as it wasnt too hot and we did manage to keep ourselves clean :) --- and anyway i dont really like anyone inclluding cleaners going in my room when i am out.
We heard about intruders on this review site so took the precaution of hiring a safe (which we usually do anyway) and gettin a spare key card (refundable deposit of 6 euro) this enables you to leave the lights on when you are out which would make an intruder think there was still someone in the bungalow. (never heard of any break-ins anywhere while there- we have friends in Caleta and they dont often hear of break-ins)

BAD POINTS:
FOOD and although this was really the only major bad point it ruined it for us...Travelled with husband (60 years old) and mother (76 years old) and we are by no means fussy eaters (ask anyone I am the worst cook going) but it was awful.
Last time we visited Cay Beach it was good/ok for a 3 star but this time we HAD to eat out more than eating in. We would go to the Canteen (Restraunt) and look to see if we could eat but 3 out of the 7 lunch times we just couldnt face any of the food not even the salad (maybe the lettuce and beetroot but not even the green tomatoes). Evening meal was very much the same and we went out to eat 4 of the 7 evenings..Beakfast was kind of ok although the last 3 days we just had toast and marmalade (not keen on hotdog sausage for breakfast)...BUT the toast was also disappointing because they had no white bread so had to have brown.

The bar was ok - help yourself to beer and soft drinks

Adi was fantastic trying to entertain us BUT do bear in mind THERE IS NO ENTERTAINMENT..and if there was this would really turn this complex around as it has the scope for it on the top floor

Complaints of food aside the complex is very nice - would i go again?? no dont think so but maybe would consider self catering if it was a good price

MORE:
The weather was: Saturday evening - quite cool (needed a jacket) Mon - Thurs mornings - cool until 10.30 am then quite hot (lovely tanning weather) then at 6pm turned rather cool again (had to put a fleece jacket on and shoes/trainers). Friday and Saturday was very very windy saturday especially was cold and had to wear jumpers and fleece jackets.

EATING/DRINKING OUT:
as mentioned the complex is close to all restaurants and pubs.
The old sports tavern is very very reasonable and can get 2 meals for 12 euro in the evening and very good they are (inc steak), breakfast is brilliant for 2 euro. Lins cafe does a 3 course for 8.50 euro which is good and the windmill is good value...go for a buffet at the chinese near the playground with sand in 6.95 each - they also do 'all you can eat for 8.50 on a wednesday...For a special treat the portugese across from fado rock is brilliant and '15' restaurant - all good prices (so who needs all inclusive)

El capitans is fantastic value with buy one get wone free for happy hour 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm ..Theres lots of shows but our favourite was Pieros every night is good there..Hypnosis show, Sadie B (drag queen) and so much more (you will love it and can party there til 4 am if you want)

finally go on a Cool Runnings Trike Tour - you will see so much of the island on a 3 wheeled motorbike and can have a 2 or 3 seater - brilliant honest.

Even though I have complained about the food we had a brilliant holiday and look forward to visiting caleta again but will definately not eat again at Cay Beach even if they offer the food for free

I worked out the cost of the all inclusive we paid and what we would have paid had we gone self catering - including our meals, drinks etc and there wasnt much difference

If you would like any other information or recommendations contact me

Room Tip: do not go all inclusive there are so many inexpensive good places to eat and as no entertainment at...
