“RUDE MANAGER... DIRTY OLD ROOMS... NEVER AGAIN...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

ON arrival the man made us feel unwelcome and accused us of lieing about our 3rd child (2 1/2 at the time) as we were told when booking through a travel agent that it was fine for our toddler to share an excisting bed. Made us feel like we were trying to smuggle in an extra child.Wanted us to pay more money and when I tried to explain what we had been told from travel agent he rudely said thats why people should ring sandpiper direct. I suggested that the miscommunication was between him and the travel agents and that was something he should sort out NOT ME. So then he told me we would have to pay for a new mattress if our youngest had an accident while sleeping.. ( ummmm isnt that what nappies are for...).. ..The bathroom and kitchen needed a good scrub. The curtains in the main room hardly blocked out any light so the neon sign out the front of our bedroom made sure that we never needed to turn a lamp on. When we needed fresh towels (as we stayed 11 nights) manager said ,your the ones with the extra child, my wifes not happy about that....while sitting at the pool watching our kids swim my husband was told off as he had a can of coke, I can understand no glass at the pool but a can of softdrink....BUT it seemed if you where over 60 and a regular you could drink and eat whatever you liked next to the pool.. So rude management, old dirty rooms, uncomfortable bed, only good thing going for this place is its location. NEVER AGAIN.

We have checked our links to agents and cannot find any reference to children staying free if sharing with someone - it in fact says rates for 2 bedroom apartments are based on maximum 4 persons using existing bedding - extra charges apply for 5th person. The pool area has clear signage on the entry gates stating "No food or drinks in the Pool/spa area" and it is expected guests do the right thing no matter what age they are. As for the room condition we are disappointed that as you claim to have stayed 11 nights and in that time you never made any mention of a problem with cleanliness, uncomfortable bed etc. it would be impossible for us to take any action. We are now several months down the track and there have been no other similar complaints from guests regarding any of the apartments at Sandpiper Broadbeach. We trust this answers some of your remarks.

“Management needs to learn some people skills”

Stayed here for 17 days, wind tunneled between buildings at times was bad and was uncomfortable on the balcony, unit only got sun from 5.00am till around 9.00am, if your up at these hours that fine.
Accused of smoking in the building incorrectly and threatened to kick us out, never even got an apology.
To keep the room clean you get a broom, that's it.
Had to put up with workers renovating unit next door with impact drills going on and off all day for 3 days, did not notify us of the racket we had to put up with. Then turned off the water without notice, so you could not even use the toilet let alone boil the jug for coffee.
I found the manager to be very arrogant, non communicative, nor helpful.

We asked for a departing inspection for 6.00am as we were leaving at 6.30am, did not wish to do this and demanded a $200 bond and he would return it if everything was OK.

Basically told him where to go.

I would not stay here again

“Great location”

We enjoyed our stay at The Sandpiper and could not fault how clean the apartment was, it was private and quite my boys loved the pool. The location was perfect for us and most things were in walking distance.
Well worth the money we paid.
The only let down was the lady on recption she was over being the host of the complex and I found it best to deal with the Man who was much more frendly, which is what people want when they are on holiday.
I would recomend this hotel to people on a budget that want good value for money.
Well done Sandpiper.

“AVOID at all costs - Old furniture, rusty shower, very noisy at night”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2009

We stayed for three days in Sandpiper Apartment, and it was the only place that we regretted in the whole duration of our stay in Queensland! In the night it was impossible to sleep due to the noise coming from the street. When it rained at night, the water appeared to be falling on the metal roof covering the cars parked downstairs and that created a continuous thundering noise. As the insulation is not particularly good (to say the least), we could hear every single wave of the sea hitting the rocks nearby (that area is the one with the rocks, the beach is further down). This was fine at first but you really need to be used to this continuous noise in order to be able to sleep. In the room itself, the furniture was really old, the kitchen dirty and old, the shower rusty (see pics), and there were many ants. NEVER AGAIN......

Review is not of Sandpiper Broadbeach. Sandpiper is a 12 story building and the car park is in the basement (no tin roof) and there are no rocks at Kurrawa Beach for the waves to crash onto.
The photos displayed are not of anything pertaining to this building and we ask for them to be removed along with the review
