“Nice stay, hotel is dated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My husband booked a night away for us in January via the hotel website. He requested a King bed (rather than 2 doubles) and while this was not guaranteed, we were allocated 2 doubles on check-in and had to pay an extra $50 for the King room! Rather annoying as it wasn't like we booked a cheap deal off a discount website and they clearly had Kings available. Check in took a long time but when we got to our room (3rd or 4th floor), it was nicely furnished, clean and very comfortable. We also found it very quiet although we were at the very end of the corridor. The lobby, check in and communal areas are not at all of a 5-star quality but in fairness, they are currently undergoing renovation. Zen restaurant is very nice and the Food Fantasy buffet is good, ok value for money. We grabbed a snack at the cafe at the entrance of the casino and the food was just passable. Rain was dripping through the ceiling onto my head, adding to the overall feel that the heyday of this building passed it by some time ago. Overall, the room was very satisfactory but the hotel requires renovation and refurbishment and it's not great value for money.

Dear BrissyGirl28

Thank you for visiting Jupiters and for taking the time to share your thoughts on your experience via Tripadvisor.

Unfortunately the preference for king bedded or 2 x double bed configuration is on a request only basis & understand the disappointment that only the Superior Twin room was available on check-in however I am pleased the alternative option to upgrade to a Superior Ocean View King at an additional cost of $50 was offered to you and accepted.

You will be pleased to know Jupiters is currently injecting more than $1 million into a re-fresh of the Lobby and Atrium areas, and two of our premier restaurants. These changes are in addition to our major renovations to the property and the new theatre.

Jupiters Theatre will be reopening in the first half of this year. We hope to have our guests enjoying the most extraordinary international touring artists, stage shows and performers the Gold Coast has ever seen in our new state of the art theatre by April 2012.

Jupiters Hotel & Casino will be transformed into a world class leisure and entertainment destination with a further planned $350 million investment in the property.

We believe feedback is the most important way to identify where we are performing well and where we need to improve, as we want you to have a great experience every time you visit us.

Again, thank you for providing your feedback and we look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back to Jupiters again soon.

Warm regards

“Nice rooms but food poisoning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Was there this week for business and really loved the pool and the rooms were great. Pillows were very uncomfortable and thick though. Only problem was that i got food poisoning from the pre-packed sushi bought from the restaurant by the pool. My room mate also got food poisoning and we know it was the sushi we had eaten 10 hours earlier as that was the only meal that we had both had that no one else in our group had. Reported this to the reception staff and they did not care when we got upset about their poor response was told management will call us but it never happened.

Room Tip: Don't eat sushi from the pool restaurant.

“Nice sized room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed here in January 2012 for a conference. The room was of a good size, clean, and very comfortable. I found the staff very friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. The only downside was that you could quite clearly hear everything going on in the corridor outside your room. Overall, I would recommend Jupiters, as I found it quite comfortable.

“there are lots of choices on the gold coast...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This hotel would once have been the prize of the Gold Coast but is now a bit dated, noisy, and disorganised. It's clearly focused on the casino crowd, the executive lounge is really just a spot for the regular gamblers to visit, if you're after something a little classy this probably is not for you. Having said that, because everyone else was such a scruff we didn't feel too bad about bringing our 7 and 10 yr old boys along.

The building is undergoing some renovation which appears to have made reception a little chaotic (with 2 kids we were put on a smoking floor, but they did correct this) and there is an incredible hubub on the casino floor with a very noisy bar or two and a casino filled with people who appear not to be having the best time, but this is a bit of a characteristic of many Australian casinos I guess.

There are a lot of newer, flashier, but possibly no less noisy choices on the coast, we stayed here as we were at a conference, otherwise I think we'd choose somewhere a bit newer, a bit closer to the beach, a little less over-run with the very young drinking crowd, with in-room internet as standard, and the ability to park in an area just for hotel guests.

Room Tip: get an executive room above level 18 and ask for the coast view if you can get it. There are what l...

Dear ianduncan_qld

Thank you for visiting Jupiters and for taking the time to share your thoughts on your experience via Tripadvisor.

This year promises to be an exciting year for the property and our guests as we are injecting more than $1 million into a re-fresh of the Lobby and Atrium areas, and two of our premier restaurants. These changes are in addition to our major renovations to the property and the new theatre.

In particular, this soft refurbishment will include a refresh of the main entrance and levels three and four of the property to create a more modern look. This will include fresh paint from floor to ceiling in the Atrium and the installation of a brighter wood panelling for our main entrance, a full soft refurb of Charters Towers and a reconfiguration off Andiamo including a large west facing window for diners to enjoy the Gold Coast sunset.

I am also excited to announce that our theatre will be reopening in the first half of this year. We hope to have you enjoying the most extraordinary international touring artists, stage shows and performers the Gold Coast has ever seen in our new state of the art theatre by April 2012. The redevelopment will include the addition of a new 5 star hotel, more restaurants and bars and improved entertainment and gaming facilities. We will continue to run our fantastic promotions for members so stay tuned to this space, Jupiters is exploding in 2012 and beyond !!

“OK but wouldn't rush back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Positives: Good size room, made it easy to do the work I had to do, choice of papers in the morning, quick room service and I had also forgotten toothpaste, which they quickly helped with.

Negatives: Bit dated, car parking (whilst free, which is great) was mixed with casino patrons which I didn't overly like, check in was a nightmare, they were training a new guy and felt a bit over the place, one of the passes didn't work and I noticed a few people having that issue. Some people were having a mini party in a room near me for a little while, which I could clearly hear, but it was finished by the time I needed to sleep. Business Centre was also a bit backwards, had to get a key from the reception and was timed in 10 minute blocks (I decided against it as I all had needed it for was printing), needs to be more business friendly for me to come back.

Room Tip: Ask to be on a higher room, Gold Coast side, some great views to be had.
