“Great Locationfor short stays”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I stayed here on a short business trip to attend an expo at the nearbye convention centre.
For that reason it was an ideal choice as Jupiters casino and Convention centre are within two minutes walk.
Also directly across the road is pacific fair shopping centre for those in need of some retail therapy.
i stayed in a three bedroom suite on the 19th floor that met all our needs for a short stay. The suite enjoyed a large balcony with ample outside seating and a large table with views across broadbeach to the sea. The room came with a well stocked kitchen annd bathroom,(althogh an extra bathroom for a three bed suite would be better).
The suite was clean and came with everything needed for a short holiday.
I think this hotel lacks the service levels required for travellers to make it a destination resort.
I liked my stay here and because of its location would recomend it for visitors to the Gold Coast.
Although breakfast can be purchased through room service it is better to go downstairs to one of the available restaurants onsite that have daily specials.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views and less noise from the traffic.

“Lovely Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Have stayed here previously and we are still happy with the property, getting a little tired in the general lobby areas,a cot bed was left on the 21st floor outside the lifts for the whole three days of our stay.Staff at reception are very pleasant and helpful.A bit of a walk to Broadbeach perhaps all the properties should get together and purchase a shuttle bus along Surf Parade,it would work. Overall a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: One bed executive room is more spacious

“Good location, spacious, and modern.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We spent 3 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment at the Mantra Sierra Grand in January 2012. We arrived around 1.5 hours early but the hotel made every effort to make a room available for us so that we could check in early.

Our 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and had good facilities - fridge, microwave, dishwasher, dryer, washing machine, couch, flat screen TV, dining table and enough kitchen utensils to satisfy our needs. The windows were a little bit dirty (they looked as though they were covered in a fine mist of water obviously due to the sea-spray), but both of our rooms had floor to ceiling windows and block out blinds overlooking the direction of the beach. There is plenty of cupboard storage space and the ensuite off the main bedroom was large with 2 sinks and a separate bath. the second bathroom was quite small and an unusual design (the door opened back onto the toilet and shower and there was a bit of maneuvering required to get in and out, but it served its purpose. There was also a little bit of damage evident throughout the apartment - a small hole in the door, scuff marks, chips of the corners of walls, etc but nothing that bad at all.

The air conditioner caused us a few problems - the room always felt a little bit "muggy" and damp and we had trouble getting the aircon to maintain a consistent temperature. We were constantly fiddling with it to try and find a setting where it would keep us comfortable for a long period of time. Beds were comfortable (1 x king in the main room and 2 x singles in the second room) but the room seemed quite noisy to sleep in with the aircon on and with traffic going past at all times of the night.

The hotel has two pools - one outdoor and a heated one indoor. Due to rain we spent all of our time in the indoor pool which was great but being in an enclosed area it did tend to get quite noisy when there were a lot of people in there, but that is something that the hotel cannot help. There is also a steam room and sauna next to the indoor pool.

Parking is easy - there are 3 levels with plenty of free spots underneath. The beach is one block away and there is a really good park for kids to play on, and Pacific Fair shopping centre is a short walk across the road (Gold Coast Highway). We chose not too cook in the room - the hotel provided a room service menu that included over 10 different eateries where food could be bought from and delivered straight to your room. We found this service to be a little bit more expensive than actually visiting the restaurant ourselves but that was expected and we could not fault the delivery speed, quality of food or friendliness of the company that ran this at all.

Overall this is a fairly modern hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast strip. I would recommend staying her if you are a family as there is everything that you need nearby and the staff did seem genuinely interested in ensuring that our stay was an enjoyable one.

“Not for couples”

Honestly a pretty average hotel. Started well with the enthusiastic young man at reception who gave us plenty of information about our stay and what to do on the Gold Coast. Apartment was quite nice, very spacious and a nice view from high floor. Pool, sauna and spa seemed great.
However, it appears this place is perfect for families with parents who want a break from their kids and let them run free. They had no concept of sharing a pool and we were unable to swim laps or enjoy the mentioned facilities. The gym was quite well equiped but was popular to people who 'hogged' the equipment and used minimal effort. The people on the floor were keen to make as much noise as possible by slamming doors and knocking and running. Lastly, the lifts were slow, the temperature was freezing in the foyer, the pillows were terrible and you had to do your own tidying of bins before departure. While the staff were helpful, I am tentative to recommend this hotel because of the people it attracts. However, if you have no regard for other hotel patrons... this place may be for you.

“Not the best in Broadbeach but still a great hotel”

Stayed for 3 nights recently in a one bedroom executive apartment as I got a good rate booking directly with the hotel through stayz. Our room was on the 10th floor facing pacific fair so not an amazing view but it was fine. One complaint about the view would be that the windows were extremely dirty but I imagine it is a very big job to get them all cleaned. The female staff member was extremely friendly and helpful on check in and all staff we came across we all very friendly. I did have problems with the fire alarm going off until 10:30pm but when I contacted reception they were very helpful in getting this fixed. The outdoor pool was not heated so would be cold if you stayed here in later months but there is a small indoor heated pool. The pools etc closed at 9:30pm which is probably normal but not great when we wanted to go for a late swim. We ate one night at the chiang mai thai restaurant downstairs and the foor ($30 banquet) was excellent and they gave us a discount for staying in the hotel. Overall I probably would stay here again but would have preferred to be closer to the beach (not far to walk but a pain if you have small children)
