“Ultra expensive and rules, rules, rules!”

Initially I wanted to cancel my booking 30 days prior as our circumstances had changed and my husband was unable to accompany us. I was told that I could do this but would forfeit my substantail deposit unless it was a death in the family or something equally dire. Speaking to staff I was told that the person I needed to speak to was already on a call. I was happy to go on hold but was told by the staffer that she couldn't put me on hold because I would "tie up her line". I was trying to ask if we coule perhaps have a smaller unit as there was less of us coming but that too would have cost be to change the reservation despite lesser unit that I was after being available on Wotif at the ttime of my enquiry. So we felt compelled to go or risk further financilal loss if we cancelled any later. Any hotel on the Gold Coast that could not rebook a booking with 30 days notice and during school holidays should not be in business. They do not staff the reception desk very much on weekends and no one could be found on Sunday afternoon at 2pm when we arrived. Rang both intercom & out of hours numbers as listed on the intercom- nobody answered. Only for the luck of a resident who was familiar with where a key might be left that showed us and we got into the building. Also in envelope with the key was a pathetic map to show us that our car park was the very last & least accessible - 2 floors below ground and use lift then stairs to access it. And then 2 sheets of rules and what not to do.
There are rules and regulations everywhere from swimming pool - no glass of wine by the pool - or food. They expect you to self-cater and keep the apartment clean but supply very little to help you do that. 1 x dishwashing sachet & 1 x detergent sachet & 1 x bin liner for a 7 night stay. I am happy to keep things neat and tidy but with the tariff they charge I think it would be feasible to supply more of these items.

“Aria - A bit pricey but fabulous!”

My husband and I leased a 3 bedroom apartment for a week in the upper levels of the Aria Apartment. We really loved our stay here! We were very surprised to read some of the reviews stating how unclean some of the apartments were but ours was absolutely spotless. The kitchen was a DREAM with everything that opens and shuts: 2 door fridge with ice cube maker, dishwasher, microwave and a fantastic array of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils (and you don't often get this). The lounge was large and comfy with a wide screen TV, foxtel, DVD, CD player - you couldn't ask for more. Our main bedroom had a huge fully-tiled ensuite with spa bath and separate shower plus there was a separate bathroom and laundrette closet. The beds were large and extremely comfortable with lovely crisp, clean linen. The views (front and back) were fantastic. There were two balconies; one off the main bedroom overlooking the mountains (to the rear) and the lively, interesting and cosmopolitan Broadbeach restaurant strip below; the front balcony (off the lounge) had great (distance) views of the beach. What is fantastic about the Aria, is that it is only an escalator trip away from hundreds of fantastic restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and bars. Its a dream location for foodies or families (especially with teenagers). We had rooms in the upper levels of the Apartment block so were not affected by street noise (which may be a problem if you were lower down closer to street level - it does get lively at Broadbeach). Also, the Aria Apartments are right near bus stations that have direct access to all the theme parks. I really love Broadbeach and my husband and adult children all had a wonderful time here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Aria. We found the staff extremely friendly and obliging. The apartments are not serviced daily and guests are expected to leave the place clean and tidy (which, in my opinion, is a reasonable request). The rental to stay was a bit pricey but better value than some places we have stayed in ... we have just forked out over $2000 for an apartment in Canberra which was almost the same price but wasn't even in the same class as the Aria Apartments. Admittedly there is more competition at Broadbeach but in this instance, you do get what you paid for. I would certainly not hesitate to stay at the Aria Apartments again!

“Pathetic service and most unclean place I have stayed in.”

I would never normally write a review unless it was exceptionally good or, in this case remarkably bad. When we arrived we had to put all on the glasses and some of the plates in the dish washer to wash them as they were all dirty. Likewise, the carpet hadn’t even been vacuumed, the couch and the carpet were stained, there was a hole in the wall, the paint work was peeling and marked, the air conditioner was broken and the list goes on. We didn’t go down to complain as we didn’t want to be one of “those” customers and the hours of the reception are limited on the weekend. The lady at reception was terribly rude and sour when we went down to pay and I was very friendly and nice to her, as I believe in treat people how you want to be treated. I wrote a letter of complaint and handed it in the keys listing the issues with it and got a reply that was very rude and blunt and at the end stated I must have said something to annoy this lady (maybe she shouldn’t work in customer service if you have that attitude towards someone who is nice to you). I would get better service, facilities and cleanliness staying at one of those $100 a night hotels! All I can say is it is far from “prestigious and luxurious” and they will have lost a lot of customers from this incident.

This comment represented here was quite unfair. The people concerned were here for 2 days over a weekend. They expect Hotel treatment when we are a self-catering apartment building. The compendium sets out what is provided and who to contact if they have a problem. These guests did not read it or contact management until they had departed. The lady in question, handed in the keys, placed her complaint in the mail box, located near Front Office, said nothing and departed. Management then contacted this guest and explained what is provided and apologized for the crumbs under the sofa. The cleaners were reprimanded accordingly. Had this guest contacted us at the time, this problem would have been rectified immediately. They expect us to provide all their toilet paper when we are a self-catering apartment complex with 83 individual owners.

“Great Location but Overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2009

We recently returned from an 8 day stay at the Aria with my husband's family. The accommodation was booked on our behalf by my in-laws who had stayed there before and really loved the place. Before staying, I had read the reviews and was wary to say the least, particularly in relation to the management. However, my experience with the management has been a very positive one - I exchanged numerous e-mails before our stay and they were all answered very promptly and politely. One request of mine was to have the balcony doors made "child-proof" so my adventurous 4 year old son could not venture out unsupervised. Within 10 minutes of our arrival on a late Saturday afternoon, the on-site manager came and attended to this request - very impressive.

We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment and it was very spacious. We requested, and were given, an ocean-view apartment which was great. The apartment was well-appointed with everything you could possibly want - including 2 ironing boards! The air-conditioning was a bit laboured in the living area but that suited us as we didn't want the apartment too cold. It wasn't as clean as I would have liked, the carpets and floor rug were pretty worn and stained.

The bedrooms were surprisingly large, in particular, the 2nd bedroom was very roomy. The master bedroom was very spacious.

The bathrooms were large and modern - with the master bedroom having a glass wall separating it from the ensuite - which our son loved having his bath in as he could see the view outside! The laundry was spacious which was great as it was well-utilised by us during our stay.

The best feature of the Aria is its location. It is right in the centre of Broadbeach and 5 minutes walk from the supermarket, although on weekends the supermarkets closes very early - not in line at all with Victoria or NSW. There are plenty of restaurants around, of varying quality as to be expected, and the area is well-serviced by public transport. Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and Jupiters Casino are a stone's throw away. There is quite a bit of noise travelling up from the street below at night, however, this seems to subside after midnight. The noise level is only to be expected as you are in the thick of all the action.

I would recommend the Aria - but would not necessarily stay again as I think it is expensive (over $400 per night) in comparison to comparable accommodation, and that you could find better deals elsewhere from the myriad apartments in the same area.

ps - all the reviewers who wrote about the toilet roll supplies are absolutely correct - you are given one roll of the cheapest possible variety! So, BYO or buy some as soon as you can...

“Best Place in Broadbeach”

We stayed 7 nights in apartment 802 at the Aria Resort and found it absolutely fantastic. We have stayed at other places on the Gold Coast but none as nice as the Aria. The view from the apartment was excellent and we even spotted whales from the spacious balcony! The sliding doors open right back creating an open flowing area from the living area which was wonderful of an evening to enjoy the sea breezes. The two bedroom apartment is spacious and is very modern with good quality furniture. The beds were extremely comfortable and even the bedrooms are very generous in size. I don't know what some of the negative comments from previous travellers were on about as we could not recommend it more highly. Some people must be hard to please and appear to complain about trivial things.
