Had dinner here. Friday night - we happened to get there early at around 6. It was already busy but it got super busy later! Slightly more 'high-end' food - more restaurant than pub. It was lovely. I had NZ lamb, partner had NZ pork. Both interesting dishes with lots of flavor and unusual without being too fancy. Bit pricier than regular pub food but we were happy to pay as it was great quality. Staff were also lovely - working v hard and remaining unflustered despite being v busy.
We were staying at The Lodge - almost next door - so not sure about the rooms here. Great atmosphere in the pub though.

I stopped in a Blue Pub (across from Brown pub, down the street from Green Parrot) for lunch one afternoon. I naively thought I could handle a burger and chips. The burger was HUGE! But ever so tasty. I was not able to finish the whole thing. The chips were also huge and had a nice spice to them. Overall, great food, brought out promptly, and I'm sure the drinks and sports atmosphere are great as well, but it was early in the day, so not much going on yet.

We took friends here for a meal on a Tuesday night late the Resturant was empty and two people in the bar. We were surprised that the kitchen was still open. The service was really the best by the couple running the bar. The food arrived fast and when it was discovered that one dinner was allergic to onions Our fault for not telling them on ordering. The meal was taken away and a new meal produced without the onions. But with a great smile.
Thank you Blue Pub we are proud to take our visitors here

The Blue pub trades on the fact that is painted bright blue - quite unique in that regard. It is a very simple country pub, rooms consisting of a bed (or several beds), and not much else - communal facilities at the end of the hall. We were there St Patricks Day, but other than a few green balloons you would never have known - instead of Irish music, the staff appeared to play their favourites - disappointing.
Pub fare was not too bad - not too many other options around.
