“the best CHALET”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Our family stayed at the CHALET Pension Hoffelner, (not a hotel) in January, and had a wonderful time!
The pension is not advertised as a hotel because it is a chalet and all normal CHALET rules apply as a standard as we expected. The hosts and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, quite the contrary to a large faceless hotel where guests are just a number. We also found them to be very accommodating with regards to dietary preferences. The dinners were high quality and home cooked, the breakfast buffet was everything you would expect from an Austrian chalet.

The chalet was very clean and comfortable with lovely views you would be hard pushed to find in any other chalet .The skiing is fantastic with a very modern lift system. In short we can't wait to visit again!!!!

“Not a hotel in any sense”

Pension Hoffelner was not our cup of tea however if you like the feeling of staying in someone's home as a guest with the rules that go with that ( shoes off as you enter the premises, supper at 7pm and don't be late or you'll go without and between the hours of 10 and 4 don't expect any service because our hosts have their own life to lead!) you may well enjoy it.
The whole family found our hosts to be disingenuous and the forced conversation during supper with them verging on inane but that aside the Pension Hoffelner has comfortable rooms with many thoughtful extras.
The odd piece of fresh fruit at breakfast would have been nice and a little more attention to refilling the buffet but the food was reasonable and certainly not poor.
Rob and Joanna want their guests to have a wonderful stay but it needs to be on their terms. To suggest this is the best place to stay in the whole of Ramsau is surprising .

Dear Patty & Family,
We are very sorry to hear that you evidently did not enjoy your stay with us, however we would like to take this opportunity to address some of the issues you have raised.
Firstly you are quite right, we are not a hotel and we have never advertised our accommodation as such, we operate as a Chalet in winter and as a B&B in summer. A Chalet holiday can be quite a different experience with a much more friendly & personal service, for example, it is normal procedure to take your outdoor shoes off as you come in to a Chalet, it helps to keep to flooring clean, dry and safe, it is also normal to be served dinner at a set time, because home cooked food is best served fresh and hot rather than over cooked or re-heated. It is also the case that the chalet hosts and staff have a few hours off once breakfast is cleared, the rooms are cleaned and the shopping or preparation for the next meal is complete, this is usually between 12:00 & 15:30 when the guests are out skiing. We always try to be friendly with all our guests, however if you did not want us to talk to you, you only had to say so.
Everyone needs a bit of time to re-charge and yes, to lead their own lives outside of work hours & we do have 2 young children who do sometimes need our attentions. However I do recall one lunch time fielding several calls from your hire car company and a garage as well as dealing with the mechanic who had come to fix your car, whilst you had left the keys here and gone out for lunch, most hotels would expect you to deal with this your selves.
In short we believe that you were expecting something quite different to the kind of holiday that we offer and maybe a large hotel with 24 hour reception, concierge and room service might have been more suitable for you.
Kind Regards, Joanna & Rob.

“Fantastic Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

This was our second trip to the Hoffelner and our experience matched our first visit, ie. absolutely excellent. Joanna and Rob (and helpers) at the Hoffelner made us feel even more welcome than last time - it was more like a homecoming and much appreciated. It made our visit very relaxing. The food, as before, was just right, well balanced, well flavoured (Rob's soup was brilliant!) and not too much! It was also great to see Rob's Mum and Dad helping out with breakfasts etc., again - it really did feel just like being part of their family. The improvements made to "our room" since the last visit were also excellent. All credit to this family for providing a perfect place to stay. Thank you!

Room Tip: For dual aspect (loads of light, sunshine and stunning scenery) try and get Room 3 (it suits tall pe...

“The Perfect Pension”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

The welcome you get is outstanding, this is then supported by the beautiful rooms, stunning views and extremly tasty food. The owners Rob and Joanna made us feel very welcome and helped us out when we got stuck in the incredible amount of snow that had fallen. What a great experience. We have already started to recommend the Pension Hoffelner to our friends. Rob and Joanna go that extra mile to ensure you have a relaxing and fantatsic break. This is truly a place well worth visiting.

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful but the views form the superior rooms are breathtaking

“Excellent Holiday Accommodations and Location !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Our family of three had a wonderful Ski holiday at the Pension Hoffelner over New Years.
The room was immaculate and the property beautifully maintained.
Joanna and Rob as well as their lovely well mannered sons, Hugo and Henry were a delight and a lot of fun. Our daughter Jiselle took an instant liking to them.
Rob was an excellent Chef. Joanna and Rob could not do enough for us during our stay. They were excellent hosts.
We will certainly be back, we can't wait. Joanna helped us set up all of our skiing and reservations around the area.
We look forward to coming back again.
Thank you all for a great holiday. You are a terrific family !!
We loved your place. Highly recommended for families and couples alike.
Ciao from Lake Como !!
We will miss you all.
