“Great location for golfers”

My friend and I have just returned from 1 week at the hotel. The service was very good, good choice of food which was generally of a high standard. We were on the 'all inclusive' package which was very comprehensive if you liked food but was 'local alcoholic' drinks only and finished at 11 pm. This was not so good which stops the hotel getting an 'excellent' rating. The staff were all very friendly and obliging and could not be faulted. The internet connections all defaulted to German and it was difficult and time wasting to get an English website which was quite annoying when going from one website to another. I suggested to them that they should have, at least, on PC that defaulted to English but it's a small downer only. There was a good free transfer service to the golf club but we, mostly, got a taxi which only took a few minutes as the timing of the bus service didn't really fit with our schedule.

Room Tip: We had two rooms on the second floor overlooking the pool area but with limited views of the pools d...

“So good we returned the same year”

We stayed here for our 30th Wedding Anniversary in April 2011 after being recommended by Thomas Cook. It was exactly how the rep (who has an apartment nearby) described it.
We like relaxing do-nothing holidays and this location couldn't really be any better. A stone's throw to the beach which was lovely white (imported?) sand and quite vast. Only restriction was that there were no facilities - but loungers were for hire. We stayed around the pool but walked into town every day. There is a new pedestrian walkway from Elba Sara past the Atlantico Shopping mall next door, then past the Elba and along past the Sheraton - but unfortunately there it stops. You then have a 10 min walk across sandy waste-land until you pick up the path into town. This is for the time being anyhow as another Hotel is planned to fill this gap but apart from clearing the site, no work looked to have been done for awhile. Total time into town is only about 35 mins.
The hotel has full facilities and rooms cleaned daily. The food is typical buffet-style but very varied and main theme changes each day. The pool bar/grill area is quite big and we occasionally had our lunch here under shade.
There was entertainment every night but this was mostly aimed at kids but there was a bar at the rear of the hall. Upstairs was the main bar/lounge area where you get all sorts of drinks including hot beverages. There was a balcony area off the lounge with sea views.
We just stayed 7 nights but enjoyed it so much we returned in September for a further week! It was warmer in September and we noticed that the air-con wasn't very effective in our room. They did send somebody to check it - but I think it was as good as it could get -ineffective! This was the only problem really but as we didn't spend much time in the room it wasn't too bad.
Overall we enjoyed it here and will be going again.

Room Tip: Check the aircon on arrival. Room locations vary a lot but all have good views. Note reception and...

staff were all very helpful, we had requested a room on a high floor but were given a patio room that was very dark and cold, the staff moved us the next day to the 5th floor, what a difference, the room had a lovely view of the sea and the pool area. The food was very good and the service in the restaurant was superb. There was plenty of sunbeds but as usual selfish people put towels on first thing in the morning. The all inclusive finished at 11pm which wa good as around midnight the hotel was quiet so no rowdy people in the early hours. Only one complaint, the entertainment room was taken over by children running wild, I do feel that having had there own entertainment until 9 30 children could be made to leave the room by 10pm, we have stayed at hotels where this does happen so the adults can enjoy the rest of the evening. overall we would return to this hotel as we had a lovely time. Just a warning, my husband had his wallet stolen whilst getting on the courtesy bus from the airport to the hotel, these people are very clever, his wallet was in his front pocket, they approach from front and behind their target so be careful.

Room Tip: top floor facing sea

“Fantastico!!!”

As we reached reception on arrival, we were greeted with a friendly welcome from Sara who spoke excellent English and she had a great rapport with the children (girls, age 11 & 6).
Our first impression was how clean the hotel was and how friendly all the staff seem to be. Our room was on the top floor (at our request) with amazing views and was also spotlessly clean. There are NO cockroaches (Trust me & my phobia’s on that!)

Fuerteventura is a Golf resort but this hotel definitely manages to cater well for both Golfers & families. The pool area was immaculate and well presented with beautiful shrubs and flowers. The pool was clean and safe with a lifeguard at all times during our stay. Although we went in December, we still managed to use the pool as the weather was so warm we were grateful to take a dip.

We had no problem with getting a sun bed but that could be the time of year we stayed. The beach is a 2 minute walk and the shops are nearby too. Worth taking a 3 Euro taxi ride to the main beach for extra shopping bargains. Also we noticed nobody pesters you to buy and is really friendly and respectful, which makes you feel at ease when out abroad with children.

The selection of local alcoholic drinks at the hotel was really good compared to other places we have been and they were also generous on the measures! My hubby loved the ‘Pull your own pint’ in the Tucan bar.

Our children found plenty of choice in the restaurant and have discovered a liking for Tuna steak & Veal! It was a great opportunity to try new things and there were plenty of local and international dishes to choose from. There were always 2 or 3 meat choices and plenty of fish too.

My favourite meal was breakfast though, with extensive variety of breads, cheeses, cereals and freshly made pancakes (Heaven!) The chefs cooked every kind of egg fresh in front of you and I can highly recommend the omelettes.

The juices were very syrupy which my 2 children didn’t like too much but bottled water and yummy ‘smoothies’ were available in the morning. We did buy some squash whilst out there but that’s our own personal taste.

We really have to say a massive thank you to the amazing staff, which makes this hotel the place it is. We felt at ease wherever we went with the children and they really make an effort with youngsters.

In the bar the brilliant ‘Muncho & ‘Diego’ to name a few, in the restaurant ‘Judith’ was genuinely thoughtful, humorous and pleasant. And the totally fantastic Hannah in ‘Mini club’ She is an absolute star and we had no problem leaving my youngest with her (normally she wont leave our side!) Hannah works day & night ensuring the children are happy with her boundless energy and warm smiles. My 6 yr old had such an amazing time at the Elba Sara, we had to take pictures of the staff and she actually cried on departure day!

After reading other reviews, I do agree the beds are hard, but after speaking to David the very friendly Manager, he said they were aware of these complaints and do have toppers available and are looking at replacing the beds too. David also made the effort with every one in the hotel. Whenever he saw you he would spend time chatting and joking and encouraging the children with their Spanish. He was very approachable and professional.

We met many couples of various ages who have been here numerous times and I must agree that if we visit Fuerteventura again, this would be our first choice of hotel.

Room Tip: One tip: Try to learn a few basic Spanish phrases – it goes a long way!
