“Wonderful Weekend Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My husband & I have just returned from another fantastic stay in The Bayview. As frequent visitors to the north coast, we often pop into The BV for drinks or food and when the opportunity arose to have a child free weekend we decided this was the place to go!
The hotel is warm and welcoming, with top class staff. We arrived slightly early on our first day, fully prepared to kill some time until our room was ready. However we didn't need to wait we were immediately checked in. Our room was large & very comfortable with a fantastic view over the bay. There was more than enough wardrobe space etc & extra pillows. The bathroom was well appointed and well stocked with clean towels & toiletries. The room had a music system, flat screen tv, tea & coffee making facilities and a comfortable sitting area at one end where we could sit and enjoy the scenery.
We spent the afternoon in the hotel bar area, reading the complimentary papers and enjoying the Guinness. A rugby match was being shown on the bar television, which we weren't particularly interested in. A member of staff found us a quiet seat by the window where we could again enjoy the views.
We ate in the Porthole restaurant on both nights of our stay. We had planned on only eating there on the first night but were so impressed we didnt venture anywhere else. The food, wine and service were first class. A wonderful menu with great variety, good portions, good presentation. Couldn't fault it in any way.
We were pleased to find a complimentary newspaper and local weather forecast on our door the next morning. The hotel breakfast was again delicious. A cold Buffett and then a choice of several cooked options. Mountains of tea, coffee & toast also. The restaurant staff were very helpful in meeting all requests.
We spent several hours on our second afternoon in front of the fantastic open fire in the bar. This is a well run family hotel, which offers a very warm welcome to all. Staff are helpful, friendly & approachable and I would highly recommend a visit to the Bayview.

Incidentally on our previous stay at the Bayview we had our 2 children with us aged 2 and 4. The hotel is very family friendly. They have a fantastic kids menu and cater well for them at breakfast. Our room had a bed for everyone & plenty of towels for everyone. The staff were all great with the children - in particular the restaurant staff. There is plenty to keep the children amused with the beach in front of the hotel and a play park just a short walk away. Our children were definitely made very welcome at the Bayview and often ask when we taking them back to stay! Hopefully nt long until we are back..........

No doubt about it the location of the Bayview is superb. The hotel staff, food and bar area I could not fault. I am aware that the hotel is family run and they are striving to update and modernise ( the bar/restaurant area a fine example), however the rooms do appear to be getting dated and an investment of new beds, soft furnishings (please get rid of the blankets and replace with comfy duvets!) and modernise the bathrooms would then make it a perfect place to stay. That cost! and maybe its on the 'to do' list.

“Lovely view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Had a very pleasant lunch, one very wet stormy day in January. We had a window seat and enjoyed watching the waves crash on the rocks. Food was nicely cooked and well presented. The staff were helpful and attentive. I erred on the side of caution and went for the fish and chips. All in all a good value place to eat, in an area which is unfortunately lacking in decent places to have a nice lunch. I would imagine that in the summer this place gets very busy.

“Great seaside property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

The bayview overlooks the beautiful bay of Portballintrae. The village is full of very friendly people and the hotel is at the centre of all the local activities. The staff are extremely friendly and really try to assist and make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are clean, and the bar and restaurant offers great atmosphere overlooking the bay.

“Good hotel, great entertainment in the bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed here on 30 December 2011 during a trip to the North Antrim coast with friends. The rooms were good and very clean. We had dinner in the restaurant, a good meal. Afterwards we were just going to have one drink in the bar, however, as there was a wonderful musician playing the guitar and singing, we stayed until he left!
