We did find gold... Looking for hotels on internet can be good and very bad when you arrive. This time we was so happy with our choise. We did spend 6 nights here and used it as a base for to explore Umbria and Toscany. Fornus it was perfect as we are living in a city and therefore was looking for the quietness... It can't be better... Except for that cock starting to earlynevery morning, skreaming for his hen.. But agsin that is the beauty of landlife.
The food is excelent, they found out that I like a omelett for breakfast and every day a new varaiety came to the table. The pool was clean and a bit cold but sceanery when you stand up from it is magnificant. We will certainly come back with family and use this as a base another time.....

Relais la Fattoria
We found this hotel quite by chance! We so loved it that we decided to have our wedding reception here. It is not a typical wedding venue and this is exactly why it suited us so well. I would defiantly recommend this hotel for a stay in Umbria (Italy’s Larder). The views are breathtaking over looking the Trasimeno Lake, the service is very friendly and professional with the team able to accommodate all types of requests and the food is superb. I can honestly say we had the best food I have ever had at a wedding and the guests who stayed at the hotel for three to five days confirmed the food was just as good all the way through.
The tiny village of Castel Rigione is well worth a visit but it is off the beaten track and do not expect a bustling tourist destination which is perfect as the drive to the lake is only 10 minutes down the mountain. The hotel is very easy to get to whether you are flying into Perugia (30 minutes drive) or Rome (easy 2 hour drive on the Autostrada).
Wonderful experience

When we started doing research for a hotel to stay in Tuscany for a friend's wedding, we found tripadvisor.com to be the one with most reviews. Relais La Fattoria was recommended by a friend, however we couldn't find any recent reviews about this place. So now we decided to write one after our return to the States. One criteria for us is the close proximity to the wedding location (10-15 minutes drive) and we also wanted a hotel, not a villa where we have to cook and clean after ourselves (at least for this trip). Relais La Fattoria was a pleasant surprise. Everything just fits the bill. All the staff we dealt with were super friendly and professional. One of our luggage was left behind in Dublin during the flight connection, our receptionist was so nice that she called the airline and followed up for us. We got our luggage delivered to the hotel the next day (thank goodness, otherwise we would have to wear t-shirt to the wedding). It's also a scenic drive up the hill to this place, but totally worth it! We highly recommend getting a room with the lake view!

With trepidation I booked a two night stay at this wonderful hotel with my in laws particularly after reading some of the reviews on trip advisor.

Well I should not have wasted a worry. The hotel is wonderful, the setting amazing and the food and service incredible.

From the time we checked in the staff were attentive, pleasant and kind, our rooms were well appointed and on our first night we enjoyed a gastronomic meal under the moonlight on the terrace served by one of the best waiters I have ever experienced - everything he did to make our meal special was a joy. Breakfasts were great too.

All in all one of the most memorable stays in Italy and we will ALL be going back
