I spent a year working in a small town of Det Udom just south of Ubon, and when I came into the city for the weekend this is where I would stay. For 400-500 Bhat, the room and service you get is great. Aircon, TV (with even a few English language channels), balcony, hot shower en suit, food service, karaoke, bar, massage and a beautiful park just opposite. Brilliant place and quite a 'living' hotel. They are leinient on who stayes in the rooms too, for example, we used to share one room (2 single beds) between 4 or 5 people, the most we had was 8! They dont provide any extra beds, but they dont charge any more for it, which is rare to find. The only thing i would be weary of is their karaoke bar. They havbe karaoke rooms which are much better, but I think they have several woman to 'mingle' in the bar part of the hotel some nights. Perhaps its innocent, just as an encourager to get more men in... or not, it is Thailand afterall. But anyway, if your out for a night in Ubon, The Rock is a good club to start at, no point staying in at your hotel.
