I have stayed there two times. Once in 1999 and the other time in 2005. The rooms were ok and of course the waterpark is terriffic. The Saentispark is a bit far from the town center of St. Gallen, if you take a cab it could cost you more than 30 USD. There is a bus, but it's certainly not so amusing to get on it with all the luggage. What I really not enjoyed that both times, I am not kidding you now, they accused me of paying just for a single, but having a second guest in the room. I think in 1999 they complained that the second duvet was touched and in 2005 it was because they saw a woman's magazine (I think it was Joy) in the room. They did not comprehend that I (a man) could have bought it myself. Well, this is rural Switzerland. I complaint to the management later by email, and they said it was a matter of miscommunication between reception and housekeeping. Maybe it was.

“Love the conveniences of Saentispark”

since discovering the Saentispark Hotel in Abtwil, on our visits to see my daughter's grandparents, it is our No. 1 choice. There is a waterpark (which she loves) across the street (the hotel usually gives us passes--the admission is costly), a small mall with a Migros market which is VERY convenient, a bowling alley and squash (or handball?) courts. There's also a little playground between the hotel and the Migros.
The morning breakfasts have alot of variety, and the restaurant staff is efficient, if somewhat cool. The reception has always been warm and welcoming and extremely helpful. There is also a gourmet restauratnt in the hotel (haven't tried it yet). Outdoor and Covered Parking. A room with a washing machine and dryer--you might have to ask for help in operating it tho.
The hotel has been closed for the Chrismas holidays the past few years, at which time we book the Einstein Hotel in St Gallen, which is absolutely magical during the season!
