“A first visit that certainly won't be our last”

My wife and I have just returned from a week of all inclusive at this hotel. We arrived rather early in the day - around noon - and yet our room was ready for us. This was lovely after a really early start and the room and balcony were spotless. Everything worked and the storage was absolutely right for us. So often you arrive in a room to find something needs repair but not here. We wanted a second pillow each and our request at reception resulted in these immediately being delivered. There were loads of loungers, although we often prefer to be on the beach. Although a little distance the hotel run a coach service every half hour so there was not problem. This was a good idea as the hotel is in an elevated position. And what a beach! Beautiful clean sand and the water is shallow and therefore warm for a long way out. Ideal for little ones who we shall return with next year. We enjoyed the food with the full selection at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of fresh fruit and prepared fresh fruit, salads, meat etc. We thought the facilities were good at the hotel, with bars and entertainment on some evenings. ( When there was no entertainment there would be bingo or a quiz.) There were activities for children and a children's disco in the evening. All reception staff spoke english well and were very efficient and pleasant. I would imagine visitors would leave feeling that they had enjoyed a really good holiday.

“Good Value for a young family holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Stayed here mid September, very nervous as this was the first holiday with our 2 year old. We stayed in the holtel half board basis - the food was excellent, well presented , good choice, and to fair, there were people saying there was nothing to eat - but we love to try new foods and if you really cant find something to eat there there is clearly something wrong and you should stay in England! The staff are mostly friendly and extremely quick to help everyone.
Okay, honestly its not a stroll to the beach - due to the fact its on an extremley steep hill- but the hotel provides a FREE bus every half hour for a 5 min bus journey to and from the beach, there is also a Son Bou express ( 6 euros return) which is essentlially a land train that runs every 45 mins or so - both of these cater for young, old. push chairs and (although we did not see any disabled holiday makers) wheel chairs.
At 8.30 each evening there is a disco for the smaller children - this is free and anyone can join in. The only down side to this was the fact the childless holiday makers made us feel uncomfortable after this had finished if we were still there with our daughter. The staff though are great especially with children and encouraged mums and dads to join in.
The pools have life guards on duty ( rarety these days) when the smaller children are in there and there is a pool side bar providing snacks and drinks through the day.
The rooms are clean but basic - which to fair was all we wanted. Shower (could have been a bit more powerful!) / bath basin and wc - aircon and private terrace. There is an on site supermarket that can provide basics but this was quite expensive. TV limited but again we go on holiday to go out and experience as much as we can when we are on holiday.
Using the bus for the beach, you can acces the small town with other supermarkets and tobacconists (please note that on the island these are the only places you can buy 200 pkt of cigarettes!) and the various resturants and gift shops. The beach again has life guards and is nor child friendly that some of the beaches in England. There are various restaurent on the beach too. There is also a local bus that will take you to Mahon for approx 2-3 euros and a 30 min journey.
All in all we loved this hotel and even though yes the hill is very steep you are by no means stuck there. Staff are everything you could ask for, loved it there and hope to go back

“good value big hill !!”

We arrived early in the morning as we had a 6am flight. The room was ready and waiting for us which we were very surprised about we was expecting a bit of wait due to the time of day we arrived. The rooms were fine they were a bit old and dated but the room was spotlessly clean and was cleaned everyday as well as bedding and towel changes. We was on floor 2 of the hotel and had a sea view and on a clear day you could see Majorca from our balcony! We went all inclusive and we are so glad we did after finding out the average price for the buffet in the hotel without drinks was approx 17 euros ! The food in hotel was great always loads to choose from always fresh and hot. I'm a very fussy eater and even i managed to find something to eat everyday. The only complaints we have about the food was no pancakes or waffles in the morning :( it was a bit disappointing but it didn't ruin the holiday. However, don't be fooled by the size of the pool in pictures as its a lot smaller than it looks ! it is also very cold and a lot of people agreed with us that the sea was a lot warmer ! Now with reference to the title ''big hill'' when they say the hotel is on a hill they mean it ! Its a lovely walk down the resort and you can do the walk down no matter how hot it is but the walk up is a killer ! especially when we was out we had the Spanish heatwave and there was no way we could back up we usually caught the free bus service back up to the hotel which also runs on time every half an hour. Also it is a lot cheaper to use the local buses if your thinking of going into Mahon its only 2 euros each and that's a lot cheaper than of what first choice was offering ! Evening entertainment wasn't great don't bother staying in for the circus or magician or anything else to that matter ! Overall a great holiday :)

Room Tip: Go for a hotel room and not and apartment the hotel rooms from what we heard were a lot better also...

“Good value,basic but very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

I stayed here with family in September 2011, and found the hotel to be very suitable for our needs. We stayed in a self catering apartment that was basic but spacious, cleaned every other day, and had all the kitchen appliances (kettle, hob, fridge, toaster, cutlery etc) you could need. Comfortable beds and good power shower. The outdoor pool is lovely (if a bit cold!) and the nightly entertainment in the bar is good. They make fantastic cocktails and the kids club seemed very popular, with a evening disco for the younger kids. The resturant serves a buffet which is nice, if a little pricey (17.50 euro, not including drinks). The staff were fluent in english, friendly and helpful. There is computer access,a games room, ping pong, snooker etc etc. The courtesy bus is AMAZING, it runs on the hour and half hour 9-1, then starts again at 3 - 7. It was never so much as a minute late! shame it ends at 7, as if you decide to spend the evening in the town you then have to take a taxi (7euro) back. The hill is dubbed "cardiac hill" and is nearly vertical, but we had no problem with this as we used the shuttle bus.
The area is nice, beautiful beach, good resturants with decent prices (12.50 euro for 3 courses) personally can reccommend Arthurs (lovely food, nice waiters, and brought us free sangria on our last night!)
Airport is a 20min drive away, with the capital city Mahon a 45 min bus ride (2.30 euro) away being well worth a visit.

Overall i would reccomend this to anyone looking for a good value, relaxing resort.

Room Tip: All rooms have a balcony, but lower floor apartments have the biggest patio

“great family hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff, extremely clean and tidy, excellent value for money, fabulous array of food choices for every palate and well kept gardens.
My 11 year old son had the best holiday tagging along with a group of children, it was safe and enclosed, with enough on-site activities (pool, video games, pool etc.) to keep him busy.
My only criticisms are a slightly dated room, albeit with fabulous views across the town to the sea; the pool was much smaller than it appears on the photos which meant that once the youngsters had all their inflatables in, it was impossible for an adult to have a swim and the biggest issue was insufficient sunbeds. Despite notices asking visitors not to baggy their beds, if you didn't get out there with your towels before breakfast, you had no chance of getting one at all. Apart from these niggles, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a great family holiday.
