We have stayed at the Playa Bella Apartments twice now (June 2010, June 2011) and despite reading the bad reviews beforehand, found the resort absolutely brilliant!
The reception staff are absolutely brilliant and do everything they can to make your stay a pleasant one. A couple of the staff members on the reception desk are English, and therefore there were no problems, as we don't speak Spanish.
Safety deposit boxes are available, and price is reasonable, you get something like 5 Euro back at the end of your stay. Prices for the boxes vary depending on length of your stay.
The pool is lovely and clean, and if staying with children, there is an excellent splash pool, which looks like great fun!
The room was clean and spacious - my only complaint on the June 2011 stay was the leaking air con unit, however reception were happy to investigate/sort.
The location is great, and can be a bit noisy, but there are bars and clubs around the hotel, so this has to be expected, but this never affected our nights sleep. The resort has 2 restaurants, which serve lovely food! There is plenty entertainment for children, and prize bingo in the evenings, which was great also!
Plenty bars/supermarkets/restaurants/souvenir shops running behind the hotel - so never short of anything to do and a very short distance to go.
If you want to get over to the busy San Antonio itself, you can walk a short distance to the end of the beach in front of the hotel and take a 5/10 minute water taxi, for 2.50 Euro each. This runs frequently until late. If you fancy a secluded beach for the day, you can get a water taxi to one of these also, and they are absolutely stunning - definitely worth a visit!
20/25 minutes walk will get you into San Antonio. On the way there is a fantastic beachside restaurant called Es Pueto, which I have reviewed separately, we went numerous times over both visits :).
