“Great hotel, we're going back for our 3rd trip”

Ok, so we've just booked for our 3rd trip. Thought I'd have a ganders at what had been recently said about the hotel, and was pretty disappointed. Some people are so darned picky. We went for the first time in 2009, when our children were 4.5 and just 2. Oldest could use the kid's club, youngest couldn't. We were so pleased with the hotel and experience generally. Everyone had a marvellous time. Booked again for 2011, and were even more pleased. Crumby old children's playground had been transformed into a splash pool with slides and water barrel. Entertainment staff work tirelessly and anywhere else you'd pay one hell of a premium for what it essentially a private beach accessible from the back of the hotel. I remember being amazed at the hotel maintenance guys attention to detail on our first visit. Our youngest attacked the balcony (just a couple of marks, nothing serious) with some crayons. They absolutely champed at the bit to get in there to touch up the balcony. Never known anything like it. Admittedly not quite so obsessive second time around (credit crunch probably not helped), but really not a problem.
Food - great. Wonderful fish, cooked to order. Great range, suitable for all. Try the tiramisu, wonderful stuff.
The walk down to San Antonio is beautiful, depending on the temperature it takes somewhere around 25-30 minutes.
Judge a hotel by its staff and its repeat custom. We recognised at least 15 staff who were still there on our second visit and expect to still be there on our third. Always with a (genuine!) smile on their faces. And we recognised several families who like us had been there before. That sells a hotel to me!
If you decide to get a taste for the local liqueur (Hierbas), then don't buy from the shop over the road, walk down to San Antonio and get it for at least a third off.
I really cannot sell the beach enough. Literally 5 minutes walk through the back of the hotel, down the steps and you are at the most wonderful, sandy, secluded beach. And it really ISN'T overrun with cats. I only ever saw one, and it certainly didn't make a pest of itself. The waters are crystal clear, with all sorts of fish and shellfish to be seen. My husband absolutely loved swimming out of the bay and across to the neighbouring one. To be fair, the sand is really terrible for making sandcastles, but the kids don't care, they enjoy catching fish.
Entertainment is free, and harmless, cheesy fun, aimed predominently at the children, which is no surprise. Regarding kids club, most sessions are free, it's the 'special' sessions that are charged for - 'sweetie party', that sort of thing. My only niggle is that if you have children of different ages, there aren't many sessions that they can both go to.
Getting to and from San Antonio is easy. Taxis are cheap, if you're feeling energetic then walking is a lovely option, or you can get the boat from the Aquarium.
If you are looking for something to do, to see a bit of the island, then the absolute, most cheesy experience you could ever do, is the San Antonio Express. It's a landtrain, which operates from the bus station in San Antonio. The man who drives it is ever so slightly deranged, but it's a wonderfully entertaining couple of hours, and we'll be making our third pilgrimage in August!
Noise in the hotel - yes, there is some. Spain doesn't 'do' carpet', therefore all floors are tiled. There will be noise from chairs being moved, it's inevitable. There will be noise from the childrens' splash pool - they're children, get over it. The only noise that is particularly annoying is from 'adjoining rooms' if you don't actually want/need one. We had one half of an adjoining room on our first visit. All was fine until our last night, when our new German neighbours decided to have the tv up full volume. Not a good night, the door wasn't soundproofed.
Tbh though, the evening sunset views from the hotel make up for any noise/inconvenience. If you still feel stressed after watching, then there's just no hope for you.
Have a fantastic trip if you go, we are certainly planning on enjoying our 3rd trip in August.

Room Tip: Definitely choose a sea-view. Other than that, it's down to personal preference.

“enough to keep everyone entertained”

Stayed here a few years ago and have heard of good report recently from people that have stayed. The Hotel is far enough away from San Antonio but within walking distance if you want the busy resort.

The hotel offers great facilities for all the family and has direct access to it's own private beach via steps. The pools are very large and the entertainment programmes are very good and there was always something to get involved in. The all worked so are and the shows at night were always excellent and a good laugh.

“The family Evans”

My husband sorts the holiday and this year he did great. We stayed for seven nights in September and took the children 8 & 9. We had space in the room with more than enough room to unpack and store clothes. We found the pools were where we spent a lot of our time and the smaller one is always quieter with beds. Down some steps you find the nearest beach and its a real gem, beautiful clear water and sandy - no stones like last year !
We went a/I so most of the food etc was already paid for, i liked the choice they offer and felt it was good value, always hot and something for fussy little ones too.
We're not really into hotel entertainments prefer to do our own thing so can't really comment on that.
We had a fabulous time and can recommend.

“Great Hotel, entertainment staff lack manners!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Myself and my 2 kids went on there first trip abroad, cant fault the location of the hotel and actual hotel itself, its cleaned regularly to a high standard, food is also good, wide variety especially for the little ones which helps picky kids which mine are. The pools i would have to say are the best part for kids, The children's pool that has been built was the best thing ever, entertained my 2 endlessly and i have to say i enjoyed also going on both water slides with them. Laying by pool was also handy as you knew they was safe as water not that deep that you felt they would drown in. The only one thing i felt that did let this hotel down was the entertainment staff, they had there favourite's that were either already at the hotel before you arrived or if you stayed up to early hours of the morn then to be honest you didn't get a look in which did upset my two who felt abit left out when they was around the hotel in the day and then again on a night. Also make sure that you have money with you when in the hotel as although its all inclusive there are still things that you need money for, as in things for adults and if the kids want to join in with some of the Kids Club entertainment then that costs which i feel is well shocking, as the point of kids club i'm sure is to entertain kids not to pay for the entertaining off them! Will try going back one day just to see if things have changed for the better.

Room Tip: Has to be low floor and in middle hotel over looking the adults pool, or the kids pool as the views...

“Very nice hotel for our June 2011 girls holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

I stayed at the Tanit (for the second time - first with family in 2010) with two girlfriends from the 24th June - 2nd July 2011.
For what we wanted, it was perfect. We went as soon as we finished our exams and was just looking for a nice all inclusive hotel that had a good selection of food and drink as well as a nice relaxing pool/beach area for day time and clubbing at night.
I said in my review last year that the food and drink at the Tanit was very varied and there was a huge selection to choose from. Nothing changed and was impressed again this year. A tip for meal times - we always sat in the outside eating area which is much less noisy than the dining all and is quite relaxing and chilled out. The drinks were excellent and we could drink until the bar closes and then head into San An for the clubs and bars. We got Taxis there and back which were no more than 8 euros a go.
Tip for people without young kids - the adult pool is gorg. There is a large main pool that is way overcrowded and not really worth it, then just around the corner there are two other pools and a jacuzzi. This area is large and there was always plenty of sunbeds to choose from. This pool area is so pretty and peaceful - there was only ever noise if the reps played football in the sports court next door. Right next to these pools there are the steps down to one of the most prettiest beaches I've seen! (It is where The Wanted filmed a music video by the way for anyone interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ggzxInyzVE) This area is gorgeous, sunbeds are pretty cheap. A short swim around the rocks on the right of the beach takes you to an even smaller beach where the water is absolutely crystal clear and you can feed the fish which was amazing!
Overall the Tanit was lovely again, the room and balcony was great (we didn't book sea view so overlooked bins and the back of Fiesta Hotel Cala Gracio, but there was lovely views of the hills and part of the sea where we got to see the beautiful sunset). It was exactly what we wanted and we were very happy with our holiday.

Room Tip: Book sea view! Stunning
