Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Palmyra and what a good week it was!
I spend quite a lot of time finding a nice hotel within easy walking distance from the city centre but still quiet enough to be guaranteed a solid rest at night. The Palmyra absolutely ticks the boxes. The hotel specifically does not cater for children and seems to attract all type of couples between late twenties and early seventies, which provides a pleasant atmosphere.
Reception staff is more businesslike than welcoming and provided information upon arrival(about internet, safe, towel service, credit facilities) left something to be desired, but checkin was efficient and fast enough. Rooms with seaview are large and efficient with adequate bathrooms and contrary to some comments absolutely up to the promised 4 stars.
We were on halfboard and the food as was to be expected was nice with more than enough choice and while there are no culinary highlights overall quality is very good. Staff in the restaurant and specifically Raoul at the bar is very nice and helpful.
The pool area is an interesting phenomenon: a large and relaxing pool, a nice garden with lots of truly beautiful palms and around the pool, inches apart from each other, lots and lots of sunbeds. However, when you want to claim a bed you really, even end september, have to put your towel on a bed before 8.30, otherwise you're confined to the shadow. And the hotel should really install a policy against those who claim a bed at 8 o'clock, arrive at 11, go away at 12 leaving their towels on the beds and return at 5 to lie in the sun for another hour, all the time claiming the beds which are in short supply. Then again, you can always go to one of the gorgeous beaches Ibiza has to offer, the busstop is in front of the hotel. Entertainment at the hotel is, errr, not quite to our taste, but probably ok enough for most. We tend to look for entertainment outside the hotel anyway.
The center of Sant Antoni is about a 300m stroll along the beautiful boulevard and a gorgeous sunset at Cafe del Mar of Cafe Mambo is also on easy walking distance. The West End is funny to walk around at night, but mainly seems to cater for those who see holiday as a way to further damage their already limited braincapacity by gulping down alcohol by the gallon.
Back to the hotel: we were quite happy there and would recommend it absolutely for a nice week in the sun. It is an excellent starting point for enjoying the island and everything it has to offer. When on Ibiza, we would probably be back.
Room Tip: Take a seaview room, not much more expensive but with gorgeous views and very quiet
